Located in Sarasota, Florida, the Myakka River State Park Main Entrance is the gateway to one of Florida's oldest and largest parks. The park is home to the majestic Myakka River, a designated wild and scenic river that winds through 58 square miles of unspoiled wetlands, prairies, hammocks, and pinelands.
Visitors to the park can enjoy a variety of activities, including boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and biking. The park is also a birdwatcher's paradise, with the cries of limpkins and osprey filling the air.
Please note that the park is currently experiencing low water levels due to seasonally dry conditions, and as a result, boat tours are not running and the boat ramp is closed to trailer-launched vessels. Canoe and kayak rentals are also not available at this time.
Despite these restrictions, the beauty of the Myakka River and its surrounding landscape make it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Just be sure to bring your own water, as drinking water is temporarily unavailable at the park.

"This is one of the best state parks in the area for sure. The canopy walk is pretty cool and the bird walk is nice as well."
"Huge State Park. We were on our way to another location pulling our small RV but decided to stop and see what the camp sites were like. From the map there are three camping loops. All three appear to be electric/water only. Bike riding is along the main road, no dedicated bike lane. The Myakka Outpost offers land and water tours, a food truck and some Park merchandise. Be warned there is no RV parking at the Outpost and you have to do a 180 to depart. There is a turn around but it's tight and you have to be cautious of the stacked canoes along the road when you turn around."
"Myakka River State Park is a diverse and well-maintained outdoor destination. The park features scenic trails, wildlife, and airboat tours along the Myakka River. With good camping facilities and educational programs, it's a solid choice for nature lovers and families seeking both relaxation and adventure in Florida. You may see alligators, various bird species, deer, bobcats, otters, turtles, raccoons, snakes, wild boars, and foxes. However most commonly you will see alligators turtles and various birds."
