"We loved this campground, stayed for four nights and five days in a tent. The volunteers were so kind as well as the attendants. Plenty of shower houses and bathrooms. Showers have plenty of hot water. The lake is nice as well as the events they hold every day. We didn’t get a chance to try the wet walk but it was highly recommended. A fresh water refill station is provided, you can also buy bags of ice from the entrance. Nice central location to visit Flamingo, the Florida Keys, and Miami. I don’t believe you can rate a campground based off of bugs and weather. We went mid February and it was more than tolerable, just plan your stay in the Everglades accordingly."
"Great campground. The only drawback is that they allow even the very loud gaz external generators. I think all these campgrounds should not aloud generators that produce more than a certain amount of decibels. So easy to measure now with a smart phone…. And these solar and electric silent generators are an answer to solve that issue."
"This campground is like nature's Airbnb – accommodations under the stars, courtesy of the great outdoors. The tents are cozy cocoons, and the campfire is the communal hearth where marshmallows meet their toasty destiny. It's the perfect place to trade Wi-Fi for fireflies and wake up to the melody of chirping birds instead of an alarm clock. Happy campers, this one's for you!"
"I stopped here on a trip to the Everglades in January 2024. I was expecting to stop at Flamingo, but it was a late in the day, and the ranger at the entrance suggested this instead as Flamingo was still an hour's drive away, and I was running out of daylight. Luckily there were some sites available in the I-loop. I set up my pop-up tent in short order. There are some cool trails both in the campground and nearby. The campground has showers, restrooms, ice, and trash. It provides a nice launch-point to drive to Flamingo. The mosquitoes are a tad less voracious here compared to Flamingo also....a tad."
"We booked online and paid for 2 nights for our class A RV. We decided to leave after one night. This campground is expensive for a site with no hook-ups. There was not much for us to do except look for alligators (and we saw 1). It was 85 degrees and high humidity in November. Even thou the RV park was almost empty, they knocked on our door at 8pm and told us to shut the generator down. We were miserable all night."
