"I travel a lot for business purposes, sometimes with a unexpected stay. I stayed at the Patio Palms for about 3 months and found it very pleasurable and quiet with the exceptions of traffic and service station next door to it for the area it was in. The price was reasonable and it was clean. There was no maid service but it didn't bother me much because it gave me privacy and am very capable of attending to my own needs. Never seen any bed bugs or roaches. As with all Hotels or Motels, you will come across undesirables, "Drunks" mainly. After seeing some of the other reviews of other hotels and motels I've stayed at, and problems they uncountered with unruly guest, I find most bad reviews are of those type who either couldn't pay or was thrown out, so I never really follow reviews."

"I only rated this motel one star because there is no option to rate it zero stars. First the good: It's cheep. As of November 17, 2015 it's $37 a night or $197 a week not including tax. It is convenient to most of the things you want to do near downtown Clearwater. It includes free wifi and free internet. Now for the bad: The place is a run down dump. The rooms are tiny. The "kitchenettes" were new in the 1970's. The furniture is even older. You are lucky to get a single bar with the wifi and you can expect to be off line about 90% of the time. The TV's are old style 19" cathode ray tubes. Bring a plastic mattress cover if you don't like bed bugs. The rooms smell like 20 chain smokers were locked in each for the last 40 years. There is NO maid service. There are NO phones in the rooms. Only throw your trash in the dumpster on Wednesdays since the owner stuffs it full of trash from his other properties the rest of the week. What he can't fit in the dumpster he dumps out on the curb for the whole world to see. The pool is filled with a "garden." Nearly every day someone will walk up to you from the nearby bus stop and beg for money or other hand outs. Bottom line, don't stay here unless you are desperate."
