Golden Thai Restaurant

"Golden Thai has been here for as long as I can remember, but strangely I’ve never been. Its an cozy location and seems to do mostly take-out. Their prices are slightly lower than other Thai restaurants in the area — about $2 less for lunch than most places I have visited. As usual, for my first try, I had the lunch Panang Chicken and Thai Tea. The tea was very good. The veggies in the curry were very fresh, as you would expect of any Thai restaurant. The Panang itself was watery, lacking body and flavor. Some tastes were very salty and others not so much. The rice was a clump. It even had harder clumps inside the main clump. It was also almost flavorless. Just a quick aside here — a year ago I would have said that rice was just rice, some smoother than others. But after having the rice at Dee Thai in Lake Mary I find that I am SOOO wrong. I can’t put my finger on it, but it is so much better than any rice I’ve ever had anywhere else. Back to Golden Thai — at the end of lunch I would have to say that this seems to be “The McDonald's” of Thai restaurants. The price is slightly lower, the quality is mediocre, and some people would say, “You get what you pay for”. But for me, just a few miles up Rangeline Rd and then up Lake Emma Rd and you would be at Dee Thai. For $2 more its like going from McDonald’s burgers to Ruths Chris’ burgers (in flavor)."

"Average Thai - Okay flavor but weirdly watery/bland. The sauce for everything seemed to have additional water added or something. Even the sweet and sour sauce was like kool-aid consistency. I was not expecting this given the great reviews. Excellent service, so I’m adding a star for that - a lot of people seem to like this place so give it a try and decide for yourself."

"Found a roach in a take out order of vegetable massaman curry. Quite unfortunate as I've been here twice before to good experiences at a good price, but my most recent experience this week involved a whole roach in the take out curry that was almost half eaten. Wretching and heaves followed, after which I returned to the restaurant and showed them the photo of the bug. I was refunded and they said they will notify the kitchen. Quite awful as I can't remember finding such a thing before, in a vegetable dish too. Won't be coming back, a shame for sure."

"Come here once a week, never disappoints. I love the Phad Pik Basil with beef. In and out within 30-40min for lunch is great. The food is inexpensive for the quantity served. Food, except the rice, is prepared to order and always fresh. Like I said, come here once a week."
