"I was a resident at the Westcott for the past two years and for the most part I enjoyed living here. The apartments are spacious and generally well-maintained. The community areas are also kept in pretty good condition. Maintenance requests that were of normal priority were addressed and completed very quickly - most of the time things were fixed (or at least looked at) the same day I put in the work order or the next business day. The only things that have been frankly quite frustrating are problems with billing and searching for a different apartment to move into. There were several months of my lease where I was overcharged for utilities/trash/cable and where a rent concession was not being applied to my account. Not only did I need to bring these overcharges to the office's attention, but I also had to continually call in order to receive an update. I was ultimately refunded, but it was frustrating nonetheless. The other problem that I faced while living here is the difficulty of finding another apartment. I lived in a 1/1, then moved into a 2/2, still at the Westcott. I had been in the office several times to tour different floor plans when I was moving into a 2/2, but I feel I was told different things by different leasing associates, such as which apartments were and were not available to rent, which apartments were classics or renovated, and when I would be able to rent the next apartment. In my situation, we found an available apartment and the leasing associate said we could sign a lease for it. However, when we went to sign the lease, we were told our move-in date was too far ahead of the current date. I guess the Westcott will not lease apartments unless the move-in date is within 2-3 weeks, which we were not told by any of the leasing associates we met with. Overall, the apartments are just fine, but some management issues were a little frustrating. Both apartments I lived in were not infested with roaches, as some of the other reviews say, but both did have more silverfish than I would have liked."
"I've been acquiring about these apartments for over 1 year. Everytime I call the staff is very informative and professional. I look forward to my future student in Tallahassee settling at this complex."
"Moved in October 2022...while there were some things that needed to be resolved when I moved in (gravel in the bathroom sink, missing/torn screens for three windows, dryer needed to be fixed), the process was smooth. Considering that I moved from out of town, from a nightmare complex, I considered those minor issues, that are typical with move-in processes. All issues were resolved in a timely manner. Did not learn about the service request app until after I emailed my requests. So fast forward to January 2023, AC unit was replaced. It was a process that took a few hours and it went smoothly. In February 2023, Inspection time and measurements for upgrading the kitchen and bathroom was happening. Amanda, the assistant manager, was on site and noticed a spot on my ceiling. She put in the request to have maintenance look at and a leak was discovered. Billy, the maintenance guy had to cut a hole in the ceiling to find the issue - a corroded pipe. He had the presence of mind to install an access panel so that if another issue arose, cutting the ceiling would not be necessary. One month later, another spot appeared in a different location. Plumber was dispatched located another corroded pipe and because of the access panel, the process to resolve did not take long at all. Maintenance will watch for any other issues or corroded pipes - seems to be an issue that has not yet been discovered - so 4 stars it is. I appreciate the effort and attentiveness. Praying all continues to be positive here. I will update as my time here goes along."
"We moved my daughter out in April 2022. We had a $200 bill after moving out for a cleaning fee and a broken blind. The apt was presten when we left it because my daughter lived there and we helped her clean it. I wish I would’ve taken pictures. After several attempts of calling and getting nowhere we paid the bill. These apts were transitioning to new management and our bill was never properly credited. It is the end of December and the property manager, Bridgette, has yet to resolve our issue. It has now hit our credit reports my myself and our daughter. We contacted the BBB and reported them. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It looks nice on the outside but reeks of weed and suspicious activity. Look elsewhere to live !! 12/22/22: To date it’s been two weeks that I’ve tried to reach out again to Brigette the apt manager and no one has returned my call. Thanks for nothing Westcott."
"Don't move here! Been here six months, my closet door is still not fixed from the move in! Guess there just sooooo many maintenance tickets! Not surprising. Every maintenance requests gets lost, or simply not completed unless you call back, multiple times. The paint peels off the doors with your nails. Property is dirty! Pools are dirty. There's pet areas that are not maintained, so land mines everywhere. If I could get out of the lease, I'd leave in a heart beat! Just don't do it! It's all smoke and mirrors!! If I could post ZERO stars, I would. There's slum lords that do a better job that this place!!"
