"I filed a complaint against Dr John Hurst in October 2022 which Piedmont Heart of Canton ignored. I’ve now filed my complaint with the Georgia Medical Board to prevent anyone else with documented heart issues being dismissed, insurance companies being overcharged for unnecessary tests and being fraudulently given bad medical advice."

"I am a 53 year old woman who suddenly presented with constant chest pain, difficulty breathing and exhaustion. My primary physician recommended I see a cardiologist after a visit with her. It took 3 weeks to get in, since they only see patients 3 days a week. I was so dizzy and had such difficulty breathing that I could not wear a mask, so the staff warned me that Dr Hurst would not see me if I didn’t put one on. Dr Hurst has no issue with me not wearing a mask once he met with me. Dr Hurst ignored test results as I continued to have severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, tachycardia and dizziness. He prescribed no medication and stated, “I can’t find anything wrong with you. You should go see a pulmonologist.” I did go see a pulmonologist who immediately noticed I was in tachycardia from simply walking from the waiting room. He immediately recommended I get a 2nd opinion since I was clearly very ill. The 2nd cardiologist I saw looked at my test results with Dr Hurst and pointed out the results were not all normal and believed me when I stated how much my chest hurt along with my other symptoms. He diagnosed me with chronic pericarditis and put me on medication to reduce the inflammation and fluid around my heart. My heart rate is no longer between 120s - 140s from just walking across the room, and I now have some pain management. Do not go see Dr Hurst or his staff with whom I had to fight in order not to put on a mask, because I was so dizzy and had so much trouble breathing. You may not be believed either but die trying to get help."
