"My child has been having behavioral difficulty at school & at home for several years now & no matter what we did, nothing worked, but only got worse & worse. He hasn't been at Tippen's very long, but the strides he has made are phenomenal. If he keeps making the progress at the same rate he's already made, he will be ready to face the real world one day. The faculty & administrators are wonderful, loving people with the skills to handle the tough situations that can arise. The kids are not just kids, or students, they are individuals & treated as such. There are no cookie cutter solutions here. The progress my child has made at this school has improved his behavior at home as well. I used to worry all the time about whether he would be ready to face adulthood, now I know he will be, because there, nobody gives up on the kids. LSR"

"I am a parent of a child that has High Functioning Autism...he also has behavioral issues. My experience with L.R. Tippens Education Center is that my prayers have been answered. Upon moving to CCSD in 2013, my son was moved from one school to another (sometimes at the recommendation of the School and sometimes of my choosing). I just knew there was a place for my son but just had no idea where it was. Continually he was placed in classrooms with EBD students and that is simply the worst place to put a student with autism. Finally, now at his fourth school in five years, I am thrilled at the progress my son has made. His maturity has dramatically increased and so much of that has to do with the consistency and love he receives from every staff member at Tippens EC. He receives the support he needs to learn skills to better handle frustrating or difficult experiences and emotions. I no longer have to worry about getting a call from the school that my son is suspended or they don’t know how to handle his behaviors. Tippens EC has the most knowledgeable, experienced, and dedicated staff of any campus my son has ever attended. Every person that works at Tippens EC has to love what they do as it isn’t always easy but they know to find joy in those small achievements. Although they differ dramatically from every other campus within CCSD, they still provide an excellent education to the students and meet the Georgia Standards just as any other campus. Every student is met right where they are and accommodations are met to help the student succeed (every student has an IEP). The love I have for what Tippens EC is and what they accomplish is beyond comprehension. Everyone at Tippens EC takes the time to know my son and to know me and we work together to make my son’s life so much more fulfilling by allowing him to develop his independence so that a future of independent living, college, and career are very real possibilities."
