Hughston Clinic Urgent Ortho

"Was recommended this clinic for an emergency ankle fracture right before I was supposed to be hopping on a plane and leaving the country for three weeks. I called 20 minutes before the clinic opened and explained that I would be there at 5:30pm (which is when they open). The staff member who answered the phone was rude and unhelpful. She told me that they couldn’t see me because my insurance wouldn’t cover it (as I had already gone to another urgent care clinic to get X-rays and that clinic told me it was fractured, but they couldn’t get me in with an orthopedic specialist before my plane flight). So I told the staff member insurance was no problem and that I could just pay cash out of pocket since this was a TRUE emergency right before leaving the country! She then told me the appointment would probably cost around $1,000, which I was fine with. After I told her I could pay it, she then told me that the doctor wasn’t taking new patients tonight. Excuse me- this is an urgent ortho clinic specifically for walk-in ortho emergencies???? I could understand if I walked in there right before closing, but they turned me down BEFORE they even opened for the night! I work in a medical practice myself, so if I was a physician at Hughston, I would want to know if my staff was turning down cash patients before even opening the doors. The whole thing made absolutely zero sense and they were so unhelpful. I found another emergency ortho clinic the next morning who was more than happy to work me in before my flight. Don’t waste your time driving to this clinic if you actually want to be helped!"

"My husband went there for an injured foot. The wait time was short and the staff were very friendly and professional. I would defiantly recommend this after hours clinic."

"They weren't busy but I took my bf there to see about getting a cyst off his neck removed because it started hurting him. They wouldn't touch it at all. Sent him to mercy med because he didnt have insurance. Will not be going back."

"Came to the urgent ortho stood in an empty room over 15 minutes waiting on someone to appear at the front desk only to be told they can’t see me after I explained I was worried I had a pressure (hairline) fracture and wanted only an X-ray. Then went on to tell me how they do not give pain meds. I kindly explained I didn’t need pain medications only an X-ray because I am going out of town Monday and was worried if I should go without an X-ray. I mean who would refuse the money simply to read an X-ray. There lose. I also did not like the cocky attitude of the clinic worker and her inferring that perhaps I just needed pain medication. I was under the impression they simply didn’t want to fool with anyone as there wasn’t anyone else there so why bother taking my name and addressing my problems. Ridiculous!!"
