This was the original store opened by Carey Hilliard in 1960, serving hickory smoked barbecue that lured in customers from the very beginning. The restaurant offers a mix of booths and tables inside, with half-moon booths that provide privacy and a nostalgic feel. Known for tender and tasty barbecue, fresh seafood, and made-to-order dishes, Carey Hilliard's has been a favorite family restaurant in Savannah for over 60 years. The newest location, opened in 2004, is located near the Savannah Airport and has become the busiest and most award-winning store of all the six Carey Hilliard’s Restaurants. "This restaurant is nice but today me and my Mom went to lunch and the floors at the booth were filthy. The food and staff were excellent but someone really needs to vacuum the floors before the morning shift."
"The server was as sweet as can be! The Food was excellent! Definitely homemade fried chicken , and onion rings! The fried pickles, yum! The smoked fried wings are delicious! The flounder is perfectly seasoned and so flaky! The shrimp with tail on is amazing! The cheese baked potatoe, yes! Clean restaurant!"
"Thank you management at Ms.Carey Hilliard on Waters ave for fixing the problem.On last evening the two pieces of fried chicken didn't talk to me ,so I returned the chicken and it is better tasting chicken thanks for the remake,and Ms.Cindy you owe me a cheese cake thanks."
"We ate here at dinner tonight… but tonight was just not it…. Our server Randy I think was his name wasn’t very efficient, he only came to our table twice, he barely came up to us to ask how everything was. He yelled from across the room if everything was okay. Never had a problem with this place before, but I can promise you we won’t be coming back to this location. Oh! He also gave us the check while I still had a plate full of food and didn’t ask if I would like a box."
"Food overall is great but if you are trying to call in an order the phone rings forever and a lot of time they don't answer. Have traveled from Richmond hill to that location several times and never reached them by phone. I live less than a 1/4 mile from there and it is an easy access for me. The cashiers are not friendly at all and all the females need to cut the finger nails."
