"Unfortunately I lived in Mohawk gardens from August of 2021 to August of 2022 and it was an experience to say the least. First off the buildings are completely unlocked and the basements are interconnected, this leads to people getting down there and destroying and stealing things frequently. I had my locked up bike stolen from the basement and the response from the complex when I asked for the security camera footage was “a group of kids destroyed the cameras about 2 months ago” so they knew things were getting damaged in the basements and did nothing about it. Second the maintenance is horrendously slow and things seldom ever get done to begin with if you don’t ask 2, 3 and 4 times. It took 2 weeks after I moved in to get the missing window blinds and a co2 detector for my apartment along with window screens never being replaced despite asking 2 times. And to top it all off they stole 100$ from my security deposit after telling me I was getting the whole thing back for “carpet cleaning and repainting the apartment” Which isn’t legal under NYS renters rights because landlords are responsible for normal inter-tenant maintenance (might I add there were stains on the carpet when I moved in and I had to scrub it myself) The only good thing about living here was it’s cheap. That’s about it so save yourself the headache and shell out the extra couple hundred dollars or you’ll regret it while you live here ."
