"The motel is very nice some furniture is dated but still very functional. the beds were comfortable and the room is very clean. The real selling point is the location of the forge it's over looking the water and there is a large lawn area that's great for families with children. The motel is also dog friendly which is also a plus. There is a pool and complementary breafast of bagels and pastries. Staying at the forge has become a family tradition and one that has always been enjoyable. 2023: rooms have been updated with new furniture. Clean and modern."

"Didn't even know this hotel existed until recently. The staff is courteous and friendly. Some of the rooms have been renovated and are very nice, but the ones that haven't been yet are perfectly fine. The rooms are spacious. The place is rustic, and I'm a pretty simple, no-frills type person. Love the big, grassy courtyard and lawn. It's all waterfront which is so great. Complimentary continental breakfast suited our needs. Indoor pool is great. Can walk to everything, it's right in the center of town, but set back off the main street which makes it nice. The rooms are reasonably priced, actually much more affordable than many of the other establishments. The only downsides I found were the lack of in-room microwaves and mini-fridges, but there's free ice for coolers and a microwave in the main lodge, if needed. Really like this place and will be my go-to for future stays in lovely Old Forge."
