"Saw this joint on YouTube and I had to try the 'Garbage Plate'. Honestly this place is a hole in the wall and could use some TLC. It was reasonably busy and the folks behind the counter were friendly, including the owner, who I'd recognized from the YouTube video. Ordered the classic cheeseburgers on homefries and macaroni salad smothered in meat sauce. The Garbage Plate wasn't spectacular in terms of any individual components, but is a great example of the 'whole being greater than the sum of its parts'. Ate at the counter and it was very good. I may be slightly inflating the rating here with 5 stars, but the originality of the dish and the legendary city-fixture status of the place earns it special consideration. Was certainly not disappointed and will most definity return next time in Rochester."

"Absolutely terrible food. A gristly burger and otherwise flavorless food. The only thing seasoned and with any taste was yellow mustard, and it comes that way out of the jar. Customers arguing with each other about who was first, arguing with the cashier about who ordered first and in what order the food came out. Dirty and uncared for interior. And a lovely narcan dispenser just in case. Would never recommended even as a prank to someone I hated."

"I'm thrilled to give Nick Tahou Hots a five-star review! Our visit to this iconic Rochester establishment was absolutely fantastic. The "garbage plate" that they are renowned for exceeded all expectations - it was an explosion of flavors and textures that left us craving for more. The service was friendly and efficient, adding to the overall wonderful experience. If you're in Rochester, don't miss the chance to indulge in the deliciousness that Nick Tahou Hots has to offer!"

"It's been over 30 years since I've been here. That last time that I went to Nick's, it was about 230 am with a line out the door onto Main St. You used to get your plate and buy a bottle of ketchup for 50 cents to go with your plate as it was the perfect way to end a night of clubbing. It hasn't lost a step. I tried 2 other places that specialize in 'plates' and knew I had to go to the original. I was NOT disappointed. Staff was great and not just to me. I ate .ine in the spot and watched them interact with other patrons. They were very patient with first timers that had never had plates before and even showed what their food would look like before ordering. The place was clean and there was plenty of parking. Spacious seating and they had your meal ready in a reasonable amount of time. I think the portions may be a bit smaller than I remember, but if that's my only complaint, the quality if the food made up for it. Highly recommend and was a great reminder if home. Don't come to Rochester and not try Nick's."

"Heard about this place from a friend from Rochester and I'm glad I visited. What a unique experience! The staff are extremely friendly and patient. The food is tasty and the restaurant is very large inside. The bathrooms are very clean. It was very interesting to hear the history of Rochester and this location. The staff are very proud to work here."
