"I have been John Azzopardi’s client for the past several years. In the earliest sessions he helped me to get in touch with my feelings by identifying sensations in my body. With his support I quickly became more adept at this. Knowing how I’m feeling about something became my first step to resolving whatever issues may come up in life. John has expertise treating all manner of psychiatric conditions. Not only that, but he also has great practical insight about real-life situations and people. He is also ultra-observant of body language. These qualities make him an effective advisor when I am confronted with difficult situations and people in my life. That he is also a nurse comes in handy. He is insightful about psychotropic medications and how they interact synergistically with each other and with other medications. Also, over several mini-sessions, he taught me how to inject myself with a needed medication, particularly how to draw the liquid from the vial. He was extra patient as he showed me how to do this over several weeks until I finally got the hang of it. Very importantly, when emergency or extra-challenging circumstances arise, he is very helpful outside of regular sessions, going the extra mile. For example, I broke my hip a few years ago and was hospitalized for three weeks to get rehabilitation. Without my asking, he checked in on me every day by phone. I had some dark moments during that recovery, and the narcotics did a number on my psyche. John was again insightful and compassionate, and he helped me stay in touch with reality when the narcotics at times distorted my perception of reality. I enthusiastically recommend him to anyone seeking an empathetic therapist who will confront and challenge when needed."
