Tru by Hilton Ashland

"We stayed here because we had stayed at another Tru hotel and liked it. This hotel was pretty similar except it was older. I'm guessing this hotel has been open for about a year. The woman who checked us in was friendly and so was the woman who checked us out. I was surprised we were only offered water since we're diamond members but maybe that varies by hotel. The breakfast offered a couple of options I could eat (I'm gluten free) so that was a nice surprise. Now for the negative, they do not clean or maintain the hotel well. The first room we were given smelled of cigarettes and overall just didn't smell clean. The second room we were given (#415) at least smelled clean so we settled for that. There was a giant divot in the floor by the bed closest to the door. Big enough you could turn your ankle in it. The beds appeared clean until we did our close inspection that we always do. The beds are on platforms instead of box springs. The platforms appear to have never been cleaned. There are numerous crumbs, pieces of dirt, etc between the mattress and the platform. In addition, it appears that someone poured something sticky all down the side of one of the platforms. The bathroom has a tile falling off the wall by the shower and the sink only has a trickle for cold water. In addition to all this, this hotel is located in a horrible spot right off I 95. It's surrounded by a Knights Inn and a truck stop. There were all sorts of people loitering outside the hotel at all hours."

"We travel a lot since our daughter plays club and now college volleyball, and we always look forward to staying at this Tru in Ashland. The rooms are super clean and modern, the lobby is great. The beds are very comfortable! And the manager, Kelsey, is consistently amazing and helpful. We always feel welcomed and valued here."

"The Tru by Hilton rooms are nice and clean. They have hardwood floors and nice decor. Bathrooms are clean. The room had a modern look with a flat screen on the wall. The whole hotel is nice and clean. Service was friendly and above average. However, my biggest issue was the interstate noise from my room at the back of the hotel. It usually doesn't get to me, but I thought this room was louder. Can disturb sleep, so beware. Overall, nice hotel would recommend."

"I'll start off by saying the place is extremely clean. Lobby is nice and gives great space to lounge. Check in is easy. The location is not ideal. You are between a truck stop and the highway so its loud and tricky to get to. Not a deal breaker. Did I mention this place feels really clean? It does look like someone decided to build a hotel off of a mix of a dorm room and Ikea. Take that how you will :) I like the hard floors in the rooms because they can get those cleaner than they can carpets. The bathrooms are nice and I love the mirrors with built in lighting. Unfortunately, the 2 times I have stayed here have not been without issues. Both times had the same issue and they were 2 different rooms. Those issues are simple yet very impactful - The TVs did not work and the showers would not get warm/hot. The first time - the TV would turn on but it said it needed to be serviced. This time - The TV turned on and does nothing. I will not be booking this hotel again in my travels. I gave it 1 more shot because my preferred hotel, a different Hilton, was booked."

"We were searching for a nice place to stay overnight after a concert at the Meadows. After searching multiple chains, we decided on Tru. The reviews were the best, far better than any of the other chains. We paid a little more, but it was definitely worth it. The staff was great! Our room was clean and quiet; we slept like babies. My only complaint would be to restock the snacks, please. Overall, very nice experience, and their proximity to the Meadows is great! We will definitely stay here again."
