L'Annexe

"I was truly delighted by the service my friends and I received at L’Annexe when we recently visited for pre-dinner cocktails. Upon entering, the host was warm and promptly showed us to our seats, while pointing out the location of the bathroom as we passed it. This was such a minor detail, but it really showed the level of thoughtfulness that has been put into the guest experience. Our server, Donald, was so friendly and attentive. When he asked if we wanted a second round, my friend asked if we had time before our reservation elsewhere. We agreed that we did and ordered a second round but Donald was quick to offer to bring the check with the drinks we could close out quickly to be on time to our next location. Overall, I was compelled to right this review primarily *because* I was so pleased with the service. The cocktails were also excellent. They were well-crafted and wide-ranging in style - try the Karachi’s Return to Grand Port for something new and Enough Already for a creamy, spicy take on an espresso martini! I won’t complain about the $18 per drink price tag because I felt like I got my money’s worth. I can’t speak to the food, as we didn’t have time to try any, but I would love to return to do so soon!"

"This is one of my friend's favorite cocktail bars, and I could taste why. Each drink is thoughtfully crafted. Are these adventurous cocktails? Yes. Is it worth the experience? Yes! We had several drinks, and each was interesting. The Queen Peach was beautifully smoky and reminded me of a BBQ sauce (in a good way). I'm a fan of most of the ingredients in the the Duchess Anna, but I don't usually enjoy lavender. Yet the way it was all brought together was a true pleasure to drink."

Although the noise level can be high, once the crowds dissipate, the ambiance becomes more comfortable. The drinks are the star of the show. L'Annexe is a must-visit if you're in the mood for something interesting and exciting."

"Perfect 10. The ambience, the staff, the food, the atmosphere. Felt like a million bucks and the space was so intimate and comfortable. Perfect date night. My partner nearly ate all the burrata! The chicken was prefect. Drinks was very clean and pretty strong. The flambé dessert and it was everything. We were very pleased. This place is on the top of my list."

Everything about this beautiful venue is unique, from the contemporary yet intimate atmosphere, the classic and re-invented libations, and the delicate dishes with an emphasis on flavor, texture and aesthetics. Owner Fady Saba is a gracious and attentive host, and makes every guest feel at home! Addendum: I was excited to bring an out-of-town friend to this D.C. gem yesterday evening but we were so unimpressed by the tepid welcome that we left after just one drink. Mick arrived as we were leaving and injected some much needed energy into the bar space but we had already checked out."
