Situated on the lively 8th Street corridor of Barracks Row, our second location in Washington, D.C. was crafted with a deep affection for the esteemed Capitol Hill neighborhood. Housed in a former vending machine warehouse dating back to 1927, our space boasts unique features such as long-hidden skylights, original timber beams, and a shuffleboard repurposed as the main bar top. The airy mezzanine can accommodate 44 seated guests or 30 standing, making it ideal for intimate dinners, private parties, and gatherings. For a special dining experience, be sure to request "the Box," our renowned cube booth.

"What’s not great about a wood fire brick oven? The pizza was immaculate! Ate the whole pie by myself. And the shrimp and grits were also delicious."
"The food was good, I can't say the service was the best. I was left sitting there unattended to for quite some time. I can understand, and I completely get be short on staff, but just because I'm not ordering a whole tables worth of food like the other groups and I'm sitting alone doesn't mean I need less attention. Treat me like the customers. I felt like they just assumed I wasn't gonna tip or I just wasting their time. Will not be returning anytime soon, unfortunately, because the food was good and the old fashion I had was good too....oh well"
"There was no one to greet my party, sticky tables, kids pizza looked better than mines my cheese was barely melted, and I should have eaten from the kids' menu. A long wait to be served, and other staff doesn't pay you any attention. Not worth me going to this location again"
"I went to matchbox with a group of 10 people for a happy hour after a tour. Their happy hour menu was really good but most of us ended up getting Hot Tea because it was so cold outside. We try almost the entire happy hour menu (except for drink). My personal favorite was the chicken bites. Our host was awesome. He had great energy and got all of our orders correct. I was supposed by how big the restaurant was. There is a ton of space."
"Always enjoy eating here; they have one of the best happy hour menus in the District (DMV) area. The food was great and so was our waiter, my friend and I ordered the Matchbox Meat Pizza, the honey wings and fried risotto. Only negative I will say is that we pretty much had to seat ourselves the staff were sitting together chatting and laughing at a table. Though I was staying at the entrance no one came to sit us. I had to go to the bartender thinking since it’s happy hour the bar is where we will order. He said no and walked over to his co workers to let them know to assist us. Other than that we had a great time and food."
