Our two charming cottages are perfect for couples looking for a romantic escape, but we can also accommodate small families. Each cottage boasts a private bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen, ensuring a comfortable and homely stay for both short and long visits. For those seeking a touch of luxury, Bellbird cottage even features an outdoor private spa pool, allowing you to unwind and soak in the serenity of our surroundings.
Located on the breathtaking Otago Peninsula, our lodge is surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty. Explore the numerous walking tracks, pristine beaches, secluded bays, and captivating islands on foot, bicycle, or kayak. The wonders of Dunedin's city center, as well as the wildlife and attractions of the Otago Peninsula, are just a short drive away. Immerse yourself in the rich history of Larnach Castle, witness the majestic Royal Albatross at the renowned Royal Albatross Centre, and encounter penguins, fur seals, sea lions, and hidden beaches.
For over 20 years, we, Tessa and Vic, have warmly welcomed guests to our accommodation in Dunedin. Fantail Lodge consists of two self-contained cottages, providing private accommodation on the Otago Peninsula. "Absolutely delightful Bellbird cottage that we stayed in, spotless and very fresh. The host Vic and Tessa were just lovely, warm and friendly and balanced this with your privacy perfectly. The surrounding bush setting was so peaceful and relaxing. The spa pool was the icing on the cake. No faults with this stunning cottage accommodation. We will certainly be going back."
"Lovely accommodation on the peninsular. Really enjoyed the spa pool after a long day travelling. Sitting out on the porch in the sun with the birds around me was lovely. Not far to go to see the albatross colony and on the way is Cove Cafe in Portobello where we had an excellent breakfast. The small store in Portobello is better stocked than I expected with Dilmah extra strength Earl Grey!"
"The excellent reviews reflect the care and thought with which the gentle and thoughtful hosts, Tessa and Vic, have created and maintain this beautiful oasis of calm just a short scenic drive along the peninsular from Dunedin. I couldn't fault anything and look forward to returning when we next visit. We stayed in Fantail Cottage which is utterly charming, light, airy and comfortable. It is surrounded by a garden and completely private. I recommend the 9pm Blue Penguin tour at the Royal Albatross centre and a drive to Allan's beach where we saw sealions."
"Perfectly located and very comfortable piece of paradise close by prestine highlights of the Dunedin area. Owner was a wildlife guide himself, so very knowledgable about sea lions, pinguïns and albatrosses (and much more) which are all a short ride away. Tessa and Victor are great hosts and look after you, so you'll have a great stay. Highly recommended!"
