Schlossmann Subaru City Service Center

"I brought my 2013 Crosstrek to the Schlossmann Subaru Service Center after the check engine light and multiple other warning lights came on. I was quoted over $5,000 in “critical” repairs. This included fixes for 3 oil leaks as well as a transmission part that needed to be replaced. I received a text from their sales department almost immediately after this quote to talk about a trade in. Instead, I took the car to my regular mechanic for a second opinion. They agreed with the transmission part and that it needed a new oil pan. However, 2 of the 3 oil “leaks” that Schlossmann’s claimed they found were clearly minor spills (from when I had topped off the oil myself only a day before), as they wiped up easily with no accumulated dirt or grime (unlike the 3rd problem area, which was clearly a leak building up over time). All in all, “critical” repairs according to my trusted mechanic and the transmission specialty shop amounted to a little over $1,800. I will never bring my car to Schlossmann for servicing again or buy a car from them, after this very clear demonstration of dishonest practices."

"Came in due to a check engine and brake light on my Subaru Outback. They told me that it was due to a crack in my catalytic converter and wanted to charge me $2800 for the repair. They also told me that my timing belt needed to be replaced and I knew something was up because I had it replaced in the past couple of years (total bill was going to be $5000). I took my car to a different repair shop and they told me there was no way they checked the catalytic converter becasue they didn't take off the heat shield to inspect it. The different repair shop also told me that my brakes were completely worn through, somethinng that this service shop completly missed. I will not be taking my car into this service station again due to the price gouging and poor service."
