“I just felt like some calamari... so they managed to fit me in for a quick bite. Lovely service, friendly and efficient wait staff. I ordered the calamari and a Greek salad. Both good size portions. A pleasant surprise was the generous size block of feta cheese that sat atop the salad. I was going to order another dish but if I had it would have been 'eyes too big for my belly '. I was full on what I had. Very nice, cheers ☺️”

“Rock Yard lived up to its excellent reviews. We came for a pre-show dinner and shared several small plates. It was a busy Friday night but the food came quickly, was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The staff were helpful and charming. I especially appreciated the innovative way the food was plated.”

“The food is so delicious, we loved everything we selected, every dish was well designed and a little bit different. Try the charcoal grilled market fish with house butter, it's fantastic, and the beef brisket on kumara puree was divine. The service was superb; attentive, very friendly and knowledgeable on both the menu and the wine recommendations. The decor was lovely. The restaurant was a tad cold though, one or two degrees warmer and a closed front door would help, but we will definitely be back!”

“I visited Wellington for my 30th birthday and decided to celebrate in the best way by treating myself to a lovely high tea at the Hippopotamus restaurant. I had such a wonderful experience, the atmosphere was incredible along with the view, lovely staff and of course the high tea itself was absolutely delicious!”

“The food was great and the service was fast...prices were reasonable, we got 12 dishes and came to 240. I'd say that's cheap!!! The only down fall the seating was so crowded there were 13 of us on a round table we couldn't even fit. They need to sort their space out”

“Wanting a quick brunch option on a rainy Sunday we stopped by the French Kiss Creperie and went for their Crepe Complete… a departure from the enticing but standard Crepe Citron. The ‘breakfast’ crepe was a perfect choice though, filled with spinach, ham, egg and delicious melted cheese. The photo may not do it justice but once we learned that the best way to tackle it was to roll it up like a burrito we were on to a winner!”

“Lovely Italian restaurant by the Wellington Bay. I had a working lunch here with some colleagues and we did enjoy great food and drinks. I tried the risotto and I love it. We also tried pizza, calamari, the bread, and gelato. The service is fast and the staff is friendly. It has beautiful view for sure. Parking can be a bit challenging.”

“This restaurant knows how to make food taste like love since it’s made with it. For a vegetarian to be taken care of the way they did is second to none, the variety of food is on point as well. 10 out of 10.”

“My nephew had his 21st here. I had a steak which i felt was cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. Due to diet restrictions they were able to make some simple changes for me. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a reasonably large group and took up a lot of space, but the staff made sure we had enough space to move around the tables. Had a great time and even did a round of tequila shots at the bar with the birthday boy and some others. Nice :)”

“This is one of those places that is a complete hole in the wall and you only see in movies. It is all you can eat, true 1980’s/90’s Chinese restaurant, and I’m so glad that we found it. The deserts are simple and perfect and, let’s face it, you’re not here for the desserts. Would happily recommend and after 12 day’s traveling around New Zealand, the best $30 per person we spent on food.”
