Reviews
"Staying at another local hotel, we came upon Bistro du Jour while planning the trip to DC. The menu was perfectly accommodating both in selection and price. As it turned out, the delight was in the quality and flavor of a nicely balanced menu of snacks, appetizers and a brief but varied main course selection. This let you choose thoughtfully by each dishes content, not forcing a competition between a mass of them. And… it allowed the chef to concentrate on making fewer dishes very excellently. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant; the manager thoughtful and distinct. The bar area was quite full and very loud which radiated easily into the dining room. Some well placed sound absorption panels would be helpful to aid diners."
"Gorgeous, intimate, and tasty. Everything is done with care, you can easily distinguish the efforts by the team. I am itching to return soon and indulge, they had an amazing clarified cocktail I need to have again. The vegetarian entree was to die for and they had some of the best escargot I've had in DC so far. Protip: the building offers valet parking."
"Fantastic restaurant in the Royal Sonesta Hotel, can be accessed off Massachusetts Ave if you’re not staying in the hotel. Ate here for lunch and had one of the best quiches I’ve ever eaten! Nice ambiance with great service."
"Visiting DC for the weekend and we stayed at Royal Sonesta. After hanging out, we decided to come back to the hotel and try the restaurant. We wanted to sit outside because it was nice outside, but due to them only having 1 server, we had to sit inside. We sat down and the server came over and spoke to us. We ordered some mocktails, i had the Colette Garden and the wife had the Chapelet. They were ok, nothing special. We placed our order, we decided to share Gougères, Escargots and the Burger Américaine. We noticed after we ordered, everyone going to the bar after we sat down. My wife asked the manager was it happy hour, she said yes, but only at the bar. Upon entry nobody mentioned happy hour between the front desk or the hostess stand. The apps came out, the Gourgere was like a puff without any flavor. We ended up using the Gourgere to dip into the Escargot. The Escargot was decent, but the hazelnut was not it for us. The ratio for of Escargot versus the amount of bread was not evenly proportioned. The burger was the best thing we had, the front desk associates actually told us that was their favorite thing on the menu. Overall, not an awful experience, but to be a new hotel and restaurant, I feel like it could have been an overall better experience. We actually had brunch reservations the next day, but cancelled them after this experience. If we stay at the hotel again, we might try the restaurant for brunch."
"New location!!!! The decor is beautiful. The food was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection and the presentation was great. The one thing I really enjoyed was the drinks. Strong but flavorful, they know how to make a good cocktail."
