Impala Fountain
Impala Fountain, also known as the Herbert C. Morris Memorial Fountain, is a stunning tourist attraction located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Initiated by Mrs. Herbert Morris and the Fairmount Park Art Association, this fountain was built in 1962-1963 to honor the memory of Herbert C. Morris, a former officer and director of the Zoological Society of Philadelphia. The fountain features twelve life-size impala antelopes leaping over ten jets of water in an oval-shaped pool. The graceful arcs of the impalas in flight capture the animals' lightness and agility, with a mother and calf grazing nearby, unaware of the alarm that caused the rest of the herd to bolt. The animals are joined together by mortise and tenon joints and brass pins, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship of the sculpture.
