Reviews
"The 18th Century Garden is a slice of colonial charm in Philadelphia. It’s a living tribute to the city’s 1700s horticulture. With its lovely gazebo and geometric patterns, the garden is a serene retreat. It showcases plants once grown by Philadelphians centuries ago. Lady Bird Johnson dedicated it to the Founding Fathers in 1966. Open daily, it’s a peaceful spot for history buffs and nature lovers alike."
"Beautiful, historic garden while walking down the street."
"It took me a while to find it but this small garden is beautiful, even off season."
"This 18th century-style garden is a free, serene spot with a latticed gazebo for relaxing that's not far from the historic Independence Hall area. It is maintained by the National Park Service with some seating and it's handicap accessible. We enjoy strolling the garden at different times of year. Given our current drought, it's mainly trimmed boxwood hedges now. The garden was dedicated in 1966 by Ladybird Johnson."
"Interesting little garden and a vast contrast to the European gardens of the period. Really drives home the fact that this was a nascent, poor, nation in the 18th century!"
