Progress Through Preservation of Greater Akron (PTP) is dedicated to the preservation, maintenance, restoration, and adaptive reuse of historic and architecturally significant buildings, sites, and neighborhoods in Akron and Summit County. Founded in 1984, PTP works to protect the unique heritage of the area in the face of urban renewal policies. The institution manages and restores the former Portage Township schoolhouse, now known as Preservation House, which is available for rental for social gatherings and meetings.
