"I don't know how they are today, but many, many years ago, they were awesome to me. In 1977 my father committed suicide and I found him. I was 11 and no family in town. LVMPD took me to Child Haven pending arrival of family. CH was full and I remember the adult telling a supervisor they were full in his cottage and food for the evening, was already portioned out. He was still very kind to me, as were all the other kids there. They all shared their food with me ( fish sticks and french fries ) and one even gave up his bed, so that I wouldn't have to sleep on a couch. I will always remember the kindness and love everyone at Child Haven extended towards me. And fish sticks are still one of my favorite foods, in whatever mood I am in."
