"Given the glowing reviews for Dr. Townsend, I was expecting a highly competent, professional encounter for our first meeting to talk about the Mona Lisa procedure. Instead, Dr. T first asked me what kind of hormone treatment I was on as a post-menopausal woman. When I said none, he said that he considers it 'medical malpractice' for menopausal women to NOT be on HRT (patch, at least). I was floored. I wasn't there for HRT, I was there to learn about Mona Lisa. He continued to push the HRT throughout our short (20 min) meeting, even though I did not express interest in HRT. When I mentioned some of the known risk factors (such as history of stroke in my family), he waved them off as "lies" or inaccuracies, saying that the risk factor is only during the first year for women under 60. He then continued, with no encouragement from me, to tell me all the things that were "wrong ' with me as a post menopausal woman, from vaginal problems to "brain fog," to bone deterioration. All this without reviewing my history or an in-depth conversation. In addition, and this was really weird, he mispronounced and misused several different words several different times. I got the distinct feeling that he may have a mental health problem. By the end of our appointment, I found just wanting to get out of his office, since he started to remind me of a carnival barker trying to sell me another three balls. It was surreal."
