“Recently visited Recently visited Oldham’s pet shop just to check out their fish selection after they kindly gave me some info via Instragram. I’m very much into tropical fish keeping, most local shops will offer your general big name products for tropical fish but you tend to find anything other than beginner tropical fish stuff is lacking in local shops. I was pleasantly surprised by OIdham’s though. They don’t have loads of tropical fish species, but they do have some stuff other than the normal guppies/tetra (they also had them!) and clearly the fish were well cared for. Didn’t notice any signs of stress, clean (and clearly cycled) water and tanks. Fish I purchased (Siamese fighter/Betta) settled into his new home almost instantly which suggests to me he was looked after in his old home as well. Even when they were removing the fish from the tank and packaging him up for me they handled him extremely well! All the other gubbins you’d want for your basic fish keeping needs as well. Did have non-tropical fish as well but didn’t really look at them. Loads of other stock around for other animals, birds, rabbits, dogs and cats. Some very friendly looking dogs (owners? Friend of owner? not sure!) were in when I visited. Plenty of other general pet/garden items, got some sunflower and wildflower seeds which have germinated well. Oldham’s is a classic old fashioned pet shop, with absolutely lovely staff (even the young Saturday work lads were super friendly!) who ask the right basic questions about the fish I was purchasing. Genuinely do recommend them!”

“My wife and I adopted a dog yesterday and travelled up to pets at home late on yesterday evening, as we were looking around for the essentials we needed to be ready for when our dog arrives, we were unsure of the dog crate we required so asked for some assistance, this is where we met Leah, being from a management background I could tell that she was either relatively new to the job or lacked a little confidence, Leah you needn't of been nervous you answered all of our questions fantastically and even upsold us a few items as we were going around the store, fair play to you, you are a credit to the store and we really appreciated your help, hopefully these reviews are read and recocognised by your management team, these days people are quick to put a bad review on but won't go to the effort to send praise when it's due, so well done Leah and thanks again . This weekend I purchased Guinea pigs and Josh could not be more helpful if he tried and not in the way of what can I get you to buy but the welfare of the guinea pig and what it needs. “The store is very organised and clean. The shelves are stocked up. Friendly staff and quick check out. Belle Vue has a garden centre however I'd also suggest the smaller B&M Manchester Fort and Harpurhey too. Plenty of parking bays available at each store area.”
