“The ground floor of the the early 19th century Portico Library provides a wonderful setting for a cosy but elegant pub with a solid selection of beer and dishes. Dark beer is available in the form of the omnipresent Guinness. Vegan and vegetarian options are available like the Burger with beyond meat. A rock solid choice you can't go wrong with. A clear recommendation!”

“Great local warm friendly pub with great drink offers, staff and great entertainment all week with a good old fashioned quiz on a Monday night, open mike every other Tuesday nights, Bingo Wednesday nights, Friday tea time entertainment at least once a month and not forgetting the Karaoke on a Saturday night with over 135,000 songs to choose from it caters for everyone and also great disco as well to have a dance to.”

“This is a fantastic Hotel, staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were big, comfortable beds and lovely en suites. It would have been nice to have had bottled water in the room along with the tea and coffee facilities. Everything you need for a nice over night stay”

“Decent location, not too fancy, but it does the job considering the price. If you're claustrophobic, please ensure that you do not book a room with the window. The location is great, 10 minutes walk to centre Manchester. The hotel is quiet, and the bar area is open 24/7. Worthwhile”

“Been a resident at The Slate Yard for nearly a year and couldn't recommend it more. Gym is brilliant, you feel so safe even in the middle of a busy city. “Saw someone ordered Chicken Shawarma on chips the other day and it looked really good so I decided to try it out. I have to say, it is so far the best Chicken Shawarma I've tasted in Manchester. Its also reasonably priced and decently portioned.”

“Came here with my young son and wife for a weekday dinner out. I was impressed with the service we received. My son was a bit cranky as it was near his bedtime but the staff were patient and friendly. Special thanks to Abdul and Satko who took care of us during the dinner. “First time at Akbar's today and I was very impressed! The food is very reasonably priced and the portion sizes cannot be grumbled at. Also, the giant "family naan" is a must have and definitely worth it - very tasty as well. The "Big un" challenge is very tasty and you get a lot of food for just under £15, definitely worth it! The food was very tasty and enjoyable, service was also quick and staff were friendly and helpful. Menu was quite extensive as well and has lots of options, vegans go elsewhere because none of your fake plant meat stuff is served here. Would definitely return. One bad thing I'd say is the size of the main eating area, it does seem to be rather cramped and the tables aren't that big either, because it's cramped there's basically people walking past your table the entire time, not the end of the world but when you're sat near a family of loud kids that decide to run around and knock into your table it does get annoying!”

“We booked a reservation for the Sunday lunch and needless to say the food was amazing, tasty and seasonal veg crunchy. Stayed overnight in one of the corner rooms, which was nice and clean. Staff couldn't do enough for us and were very friendly, cocktails were excellent. Thank you.”

“Enjoyed a two night stay at the coachman. We were met on our arrival by Lyn the new landlady. Both she and her staff were very friendly . Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent cooked breakfast provided on both days. Our room was clean and comfortable. We also tried the new Thai menu one evening which was also very good. Lyn has worked hard to turn around the pub,after it's previous owner had let standards slip. Well done Lyn and your team.”
