Premier Inn Manchester Tameside (Hyde) hotel
● Open“We have stayed at this PI regularly for about 15 years so that we can visit family. Even though team members have changed, it is still staffed by a great team of friendly and helpful staff and the rooms are spotlessly clean. Thank you all! However, over the last couple of years, a very clear and "uncomfortable" demarcation has evolved between this PI and the associated restaurant. The restaurant has extremely rigid rules for eating times etc. and enforces them in a forthright manner... it makes the whole hotel experience unpleasant. We prefer to eat at the great Café in Tesco, a short walk away. The staff are really lovely and the food is good - far less stressful.”

Distant Hills Brewing
● Closed“This brewery outlet and restaurant has a pleasant green setting in Old Glossop with outdoor and indoor seating, helpful staff and imaginative options on the menu, including vegan and veggie ones - a lot of the options are light bites rather than full meals, and of course there are the various house beers. The pictured jerk chicken dish really was divine and as you can see also nicely presented. I liked the chef's dedication and enthusiasm. It's worth going to try some dishes that are a bit different, even if you're not big on beer. On that topic, I haven't the heart to deduct a star for it, but it is a shame that no alcohol-free beer is on offer, and secondly, I once ordered a home-brewed 'Hefeweizen' which is a German-style wheat beer cloudy with yeast in it, and it was served lukewarm. Being firstly German and secondly a refreshing summer drink this type of beer absolutely needs to be consumed properly chilled!”

The Little Mill @ Rowarth
● Closed“Spent the night at the Mill after having a wonderful meal with 2 friends. A fabulous 3-course meal, that did not disappoint. After a great evening in a very festive atmosphere we retired to an extremely comfortable 6- king bed in a very well-designed bedroom with balcony views of the old mill wheel and stream. The only thing that lets this inn down is the lack of power in the shower.”

RHS Garden Bridgewater
● Closed“We came to the dog walking evening on the 27th of June. We had wanted to visit the gardens since they opened but this gave us, and our furry friends, the ideal opportunity to explore. What a resounding success it seemed to be. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait for the next one in July. Everybody we spoke to said the same as us. The gardens themselves are beautiful and we all enjoyed exploring. It is a place that is ever changing and I would like to see it in the different seasons. I really hope the dog friendly evenings remain a regular thing.”

Diggle Lock
● Closed“Great place, I’m so glad we found it this time. Google maps sends you to a road in Shaw. So ensure you type in the actual address when wanting to come here and not click directions from google :) it will save you a 20 mins drive lol Great service, food is top notch, prices are good with a great atmosphere. Definitely will be back. They have gluten free bread. Although not celiac friendly, as the kitchen is not set up for A gluten free station. They did ensure the bread was grilled away from the areas wheat had touched. Kids menu available and also a Dog menu too. The staff were really helpful.”

The staff were lovely and friendly and the pub grub was excellent! The meals were plentiful, an excellent plateful, which is always good for me, and some of the pies in particular, were lovely. The Fidget Pie was definitely one I’d not heard of before, but I’d definitely recommend. So, if you’re looking for friendly staff, friendly locals and excellent pub grub, then I’d highly recommend the Lantern Pike!”

Navigation Inn
● Closed“Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Navigation Inn. Great food and choice of cask ales. Located a short walk along canal path to Whaley Bridge, and 3 miles along canal path to New Mills. Recommend lamb shank and beef hot pot with extra chunky fries which we had (see photos) ..No need for chips on the way home after that. Very warm and cosy traditional friendly atmosphere with low ceilings. Choice of 4 cask ales, including Timothy Taylor..See photos. B&B :- Four poster room very nice with new spacious ensuit shower. Stairs and landing work in progress re decorating but this didn't change our enjoyment in the slightest :) Breakfast amazing with all the usual choices cooked really well and any variation in menu not to much trouble. Will definitely return.”

The Albert Hotel
● Open“Spotless, modern rooms and facilities with old-time, personal hospitality, in this great local pub stay, after a day in the Peaks, or en-route somewhere. MUCH better than similarly priced options in the dull and disinterested franchise travel hotels in the area. .”

31 Butterworth Hall Self-catering cottage Milnrow Rochdale
● Open31 Butterworth Hall, Milnrow, Littleborough OL16 3PE, United Kingdom“.Excellent, comfortable and well equipped home” from tripadvisor Reviewed 5 Jan 2016 Our family thoroughly enjoyed the month stay at the well located Butterworth Hall. Owners, Judith and David, were very helpful and quick to respond to any requests. We were welcomed with a Christmas tree, flowers and tasty treats. The cottage is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The location of the cottage is excellent - close to pubs, restaurants, grocery stores and tram to Manchester City Centre. The great WiFi access was important for us to keep in touch. It's very spacious as we hosted dinner for 15 people. I would highly recommended this cottage to anyone needing to stay near Manchester.”
