Yara Restaurant
● Closed“We stopped in here for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The service was outstanding and had we had more time we would have kept chatting with our server. This was made perfect by the quality and taste of the 3 dishes we had. The Babaghanouj, Bourak and Maklubeh were outstanding! We’d never had the 2 last dishes and loved the flavor. If we every get back to Altrincham this will definitely be our first stop.”

Raj Mahal Indian Restaurant
● Closed“UPDATE. This is definitely the best Indian in Darwen. Although not on the menu, they do do a cauliflower side and tonight I even took my own aubergine. The food is always delicious and plentiful and the service is top notch. Toilets not quite finished but getting there. I wish they would bring the bill with the Bailey's. PREVIOUS We went there last night, Wednesday, at 5.30 for a change from our usual Sunday venue. We were warmly welcomed and served drinks (two pints of Cobra). The heating was on. We ordered three poppadoms (which came with a far too big a pickle tray), 2 mains from their chefs recommended specials with a vegetable rice, a garlic and cheese naan and a portion of onion bahjis. It was absolutely delicious, faultless and plentiful. Giving The Akash a run for its money? Most certainly at £42.00 with complimentary Bailey's. The decor is lovely. Miminalistic muted greys with the colourful paintings as a beautiful contrast. Not too bright. The service was discreet and professional. Not overly friendly. Downside? The toilets reaĺly do need attention to finish the refurbishment. Thank you. We will return very soon. Looking forward to their Sunday buffet which they said, is coming soon.”

Shaam Lebanese Restaurant
● Closed“Our first visit yesterday together with a friend who had recommended the restaurant to us. We loved it! Although early so very few customers at that time it still had a cosy relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious and the young man that served us was helpful and charming. We will certainly return and recommend this restaurant highly.”

BrewDog Manchester
● Closed“Really decent spot ideal for a gig at the Albert Hall next door. Huge range of ale on offer, the burgers were awesome and cannot compliment the staff enough who made us feel welcome and offered great table service despite being busy the whole time we were there. I put a specific request on the table booking and got exactly what we asked for. It was very much appreciated. Easy to imagine a place like this being a bit too cool, staff being a bit detached, but not at all. Also decent indie play list on the whole time we were there. Top top place!”

Corn Exchange Manchester
● Closed“Vibrant area with plenty of restaurants. Arndale centre towers adjacent to the corn exchange which does not have a dedicated car park. Parking can be a nightmare for first timers. The adjacent shopping malls offer paid parking at a premium so allow some time to navigate the maze of road works, one way streets and the short walk to your destination.”

German Doner Kebab
● Closed“First time I went to German donner , nice clean , great location . I ordered two donner mix boxes with chips and cheese one was large and one regular size. I paid £1.50 for a large one , when I got both Donner mix boxes I was so confused because both boxes where the same size and looked equally filled up . I dont know how much extra donner can be crammed in to the same size box . I wouldn't bother paying extra £1.50. UPDATE 2ND VISIT Anyways so I went again to german donner , and the donner was burnt , I told a worker and she offered to give me some more donner but it was stil burnt They definitely probably got loads of complaints that day. UPDATE 3RD VIST So i visted German donner again on the 26.01.2022 I ordered a donnar kebab meal , i got to say it was it was very pricey but it was soo worth it . The food has really gone up in standard since my last vist . Best thing no burnt donner The staff where really lovely , but to be honest they always where lovely and helpful everytime i went . So i feel like German donner really does take in everyones feedback and works hard to make things right so il be giving them a better rating x”

The Sparrows Continental Pasta & Spätzle
● Closed“After having a very very cold bus trip for 4h this restaurant was our salvation. From the outside one does not know what to expect, but once the door was opened we really got surprised. The warm and nice atmosphere inside made us enjoy the delicious lunch even more. The Spätzle tasted truly authentic, but at the same time had a touch of originality. We strongly recommend the Spätzle “Guanciale” (sadly not on the photos), which are a beautiful mix of different countries traditional plates. All in all this restaurant is something different and offers a nice variation of very interesting dishes and drinks. We strongly recommend it :)”

Distant Hills Brewing
● Closed“This brewery outlet and restaurant has a pleasant green setting in Old Glossop with outdoor and indoor seating, helpful staff and imaginative options on the menu, including vegan and veggie ones - a lot of the options are light bites rather than full meals, and of course there are the various house beers. The pictured jerk chicken dish really was divine and as you can see also nicely presented. I liked the chef's dedication and enthusiasm. It's worth going to try some dishes that are a bit different, even if you're not big on beer. On that topic, I haven't the heart to deduct a star for it, but it is a shame that no alcohol-free beer is on offer, and secondly, I once ordered a home-brewed 'Hefeweizen' which is a German-style wheat beer cloudy with yeast in it, and it was served lukewarm. Being firstly German and secondly a refreshing summer drink this type of beer absolutely needs to be consumed properly chilled!”

Punto Pizzas

The Courtyard Brewery
● Closed“Called at Secret Sip but it was shut. Sign on the door said if closed try courtyard around back. Went around to the back and sure enough there was a courtyard and it was buzzing. Mainly long tables inside but quite roomy. Bigger than it looks from first approach. Looks like they have pop up restaurants here. Pizza the previous week and Thai on our visit. Reasonable prices but didn't try coz going for a meal to Mazzos. Quite a few beers usually but on our visit they had almost been drunk dry over the bank holiday weekend. Did try a pint of Pelaton and it was superb. Will be back just for that one beer. Staff very friendly and approachable.”
