“Had a meeting and lunch here. The meeting room was very spacious, the tech all worked and there are plenty of plugs. Tea and coffee provided, along with some biscuits. Staff very helpful throughout. The lunch was nice too, not too pricey for quality food, had the seabass, calories printed on the menus which is very helpful. Pint of MPA on cask was in perfect condition!”

“We booked a reservation for the Sunday lunch and needless to say the food was amazing, tasty and seasonal veg crunchy. Stayed overnight in one of the corner rooms, which was nice and clean. Staff couldn't do enough for us and were very friendly, cocktails were excellent. Thank you.”

“We just had a 3 day , 2 night family gathering here for 12 people and 4 dogs. We received exceptional treatment, nothing was too much trouble. We all had afternoon teas which were absolutely amazing, and we had lovely evening meals too. The rooms were all lovely and clean, and the hotel had a really nice atmosphere. The staff (in particular Sean & Loraine.) Have wonderful customer service skills, and make you feel very special. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, its A true hidden gem.”

“This is a beautifully decorated, rustic, enchanting hotel. The 400 year old building is very comfy and warm. An extremely relaxing environment. A fairytale feeling to the aptly named Wizards retreat. Welcomed by the owner Ian and introduced to the area, given plenty of ideas for eating and day out opportunities. The suite (Merlin Suite) was extremely comfortable, warm and a delightful place to stay. Cake, biscuits, teas and coffees and toiletries all included and of a high quality. Just an absolutely delightful stay which we plan to repeat to experience one of the other suites there.”

Clare was available for us whenever we needed her - nothing was ever too much and it made the wedding planning so enjoyable! I would highly, highly, highly recommend Hilltop Country House - there is a reason it has been voted the best wedding venue in Cheshire!”

The staff was a delight, Laura in the spa could not have been more helpful and pleasant if she tried, Christian the GM was so kind and welcoming and the staff in the restaurants went above and beyond. “Quick overview for three night stay with young child. Very helpful & efficient reception/check-in. Beautiful, clean, warm, well serviced bedroom. The only hot food available is bar food in the cafe. Such a let down! The little one largely only eats pasta & they ran out..crisis! Fabulous health club…surely the Spa bath is the most perfect in the country? Big, v warm, comfortable, sublime setup inc lighting/setting. Overall strongly recommend.”

“Lovely place, having its own separate entrance, spacious room, very comfortable bed, clean and cosy, nice and quiet location. 5min walk from the village. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. We only stayed one night as we attended a wedding but we enjoyed our stay very much.”
