Scottish Steakhouse at Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa
● ClosedPiccadilly, Manchester M1 2PG, United Kingdom“I didn’t have high hopes for this place after reading some of the reviews posted here. However, we booked it as part of a ‘Date Night’ package with the Macdonald Hotel and I have to say I was actually very impressed with both the food and the service. I ordered fish and chips and my husband ordered the burger. My fish and chips was possibly the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant - perfectly cooked fish with the chunkiest chips I’ve ever seen! It came with a generous dollop of tartare sauce which was absolutely delicious. My husband’s burger also looked yummy - a proper thick juicy burger, well garnished and with a decent portion of fries. The waiting staff who served us were very polite and efficient too. I don’t think there’s anything I could find fault with. If I had to be picky about anything I’d say the air conditioning was possibly a bit on the chilly side but it didn’t make our evening any less enjoyable.”

The Sparrows Continental Pasta & Spätzle
● Open“After having a very very cold bus trip for 4h this restaurant was our salvation. From the outside one does not know what to expect, but once the door was opened we really got surprised. The warm and nice atmosphere inside made us enjoy the delicious lunch even more. The Spätzle tasted truly authentic, but at the same time had a touch of originality. We strongly recommend the Spätzle “Guanciale” (sadly not on the photos), which are a beautiful mix of different countries traditional plates. All in all this restaurant is something different and offers a nice variation of very interesting dishes and drinks. We strongly recommend it :)”

10 Tib Lane
● Open“Firstly my photos are rubbish and don't capture the food as well as it should. Also, I forgot to take photos of the full sea bream in champagne sauce, or the bone marrow served with Pommes Anna, we just got too hungry and forgot! Pig's Head croquette - wonderfully crispy on the outside, with a strong fatty pork flavour which I loved, outstanding! Bone Marrow with Pommes Anna - juicy, delicate, and the mouth feel of the fat coating your tonuge - gorgeous. Needed the salty pommes anna alongside for the perfect mouthful. Charred Hispi cabbage - a nice bitterness and complemented by the deep sauce. Beef shin and kidney rarebit pudding - a stodgy big portion, but the suet was light and crumbly, deep meaty flavours with the kidney not overpowering. This was a meal on its own! Roast duck with port sauce - perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. Sea Bream - whole sea bream which was perfectly roasted, champagne sauce was perhaps a little rich for us by then, but the chive oil did help to balance that out. House fries - nice, but we were stuffed so not really needed! No real complaints, it was busy and we hadn't booked, so we had to sit at the bar which wasn't the most comfortable. The food comes out as its ready which means we were left with the sea bream and fries at the end - would have been better if the order of dishes could have been rearranged, but anyway, this was a great meal. Including three soft drinks, only £92 for all that incredible food! Definitely need to go again!”

The Aviator
● Open“New Bar/Restaurant opened in Bramhall/Woodford. We was welcomed upon arriving and was quickly shown to our table. Excellent service upon arrival. The waitress came to the table with the menu's and information us with specials of the day. We ordered drinks (2 Coffees and a Large Coke) the Coffees was made perfect, probably the best I've had in a Pub/Restaurant. We ordered from the set 3 course menu £16.95. We chose... Starter: 1 soup of the day and 2 black pudding fritters. All perfect, hot and perfect size. Mains: 1 Fish Cake and 2 6oz steaks and Chips. Steaks should have been mid rare. Unfortunately we had to send the first 2 steaks back as they was well under cooked in fact you could say they was still mooing. The staff handed it in a professional manner and brought back two perfectly cooked steaks. EXCELLENT SERVICE. Pudding: This was perfect. Two Stickey Chocolate Puddings. Delicious. Overall we had a great experience, I can't fault any point of the Experience. The staff and service was excellent and made the afternoon every enjoyable, THANK YOU. We will definitely be going back in the very near future. A small add on: Toilets are up stairs, perfectly clean. Disabled toilets are on the ground floor.”
