The Quarter Kitchen
● ClosedLower Clapton Road, London E5 0PD, United Kingdom“Heard about this place and it’s reputation for being one of London’s hottest new eat spots. Went for lunch to try it out and was amazed. Bacon and egg tacos with a Mexican twist! Simple street food but way elevated above your average. Head now before they move to a bigger restaurant!”

Service is amazing, so attentive. they really go out of their way, whether that is asking if i want my hot drink reheated when I hadn't drunk it during my meal, or just noticing little details. And generally their manner of speaking with people is really kind ane friendly. The owners have created a really lovely atmosphere and even though I don't know anyone there, I really like hearing the owners and customers all chatting away, it's very cute.”

The Mugs Patisserie
● Closed“Mugs Patisserie has to be my favourite coffee shop in Twickenham. I love coming here on a Saturday or Sunday morning for a slow relaxed cup of cafe and a pastry/cake. It can get busy but not in the same hectic/heaving way you may see in 1-2 other places in Twickenham, nor is it the empty soulless place you see with so many chains. This hits the sweet spot and the pastries are wonderful and coffee great. The staff always offer a big smile on arrival. There is some writing on the wall that says “You cannot make everyone happy - you are not coffee”. A little place of joy!”

Expressions
● Closed“We’d walked past this place many times and thought we should go in at some point. Today was the day. Oh my. Exceptional laksa. I mean, mad-levels of good. Cracking range of dishes which all sounded delightful! But the laksa really grabbed us, and didn’t disappoint. The owner was very happy to help with dish recommendations and suggesting how spicy they’d be (a perfect spiciness actually). It was very quick service, and cracking value! Oh and the lèche flan was amazing. She said she’d spent years perfecting it…and she really has! Cannot recommend enough, and I love that countless other people have had a similar experience! We’ll definitely be back soon.”

Freedom Caffe' Tearoom
● ClosedCheam, Sutton SM3 8QD, United Kingdom“I've only ever driven through Cheam before my visit yesterday, a trip by public transport (tram and train) from Croydon specifically to visit the Whitehall museum, housed in a grade II* listed former domestic dwelling dating from before the reign of Henry VIII. While the museum is an important place of reference for local history, geared more towards children than adults, it also houses the excellent Freedom Caffe' tearoom. The restrictions imposed by such an old, historic house may mean they can't use a normal commercial coffee machine but the range of soft drinks is impressive and more importantly, the vegan options for lunch are delicious. I highly recommend both the vegan sausage roll with salad and the vegan Greek. Then there are the cakes... The only vegan option on the day was a chocolate pear and apple cake but it was gorgeous and the staff were attentive and friendly and the food reasonably priced. I also noted the fresh pasta preparation. There's more to Cheam than the museum but whatever else you're doing it's well worth making sure you visit the Freedom Caffe' for a drink and a bite to eat.”

Crespidia
● Closed48 Anerley Hill, London SE19 2AE, United Kingdom“3 of us discovered this hidden gem on Anerly Hill today. At first you're met with a visual array of eclectic vintage items. Dotted around are lots of gifts to buy and as you study the space, this becomes more apparent. It feels like someone's front room and you begin to feel at ease. Then we were met with a fantastic menu of many enticing dishes. We opted for Buttermilk pancakes with natural yoghurt, maple syrup and berries, scrambled egg & crispy bacon on sour dough and homemade brioche French toast with bacon, banana and maple syrup. We had lattes and flat white coffee which. All were devourer and not a complaint was heard from any of us! We then spied the vast selection of home baked goodies and we decided to take home: Flourintine, blonde brownie, orange polenta cake and a huge coconut macaroon. We are discussing what to have the next time we go. Part of me wants to keep Crespidia to myself but it's really too good not to share! Visit, you won't be disappointed.”
