"Had a brilliant visit here. We tried the homemade cakes and drinks which were really nice, and the staff had gone to a lot of trouble with everything. The setting within the historic Whitehall building makes it a unique experience and gives the cafe extra character. The staff were extremely friendly, and the place had a very relaxed family-friendly feel to it. Will definitely come back."

"Fantastic homemade gluten-free and vegan cakes! The signature Gluten-free Pistachio Cake is impressive with an aromatic rich flavour but fluffy and moist texture! The Vegan Lemon Drizzle is also refreshing and light. Must try their homemade pasta in next visit! The ladies there are friendly and welcoming. A really nice and cosy tea room to have some tea and coffee or even a healthy light meal! I think it'd be wonderful to sit in the garden when it's warmer."

"I've only ever driven through Cheam before my visit yesterday, a trip by public transport (tram and train) from Croydon specifically to visit the Whitehall museum, housed in a grade II* listed former domestic dwelling dating from before the reign of Henry VIII. While the museum is an important place of reference for local history, geared more towards children than adults, it also houses the excellent Freedom Caffe' tearoom. The restrictions imposed by such an old, historic house may mean they can't use a normal commercial coffee machine but the range of soft drinks is impressive and more importantly, the vegan options for lunch are delicious. I highly recommend both the vegan sausage roll with salad and the vegan Greek. Then there are the cakes... The only vegan option on the day was a chocolate pear and apple cake but it was gorgeous and the staff were attentive and friendly and the food reasonably priced. I also noted the fresh pasta preparation. There's more to Cheam than the museum but whatever else you're doing it's well worth making sure you visit the Freedom Caffe' for a drink and a bite to eat."
