She recommended buying a platter which was better value for money. The food was hot and well cooked and we both really enjoyed our meal. We finished off with a desert each. “Very conveniently situated right in the middle of Hornchurch High Street. Very pleasant inside, very welcoming and the music system is not too intrusive. Nice. Would recommend the steak & ale pie with either chips or side salad. Very pleasant and helpful staff. “I booked Shelley's for Fathers Day and was really pleased I did! I loved the new décor, especially the 'flower wall' and the beautiful mirrored pictures. The food was delicious and considering Shelley (the owner) was one man down (one of the chefs) on a busy day the service was impeccable. I ordered the chicken wings starters and lamb shank for main. All the food was piping hot and the lamb shank was so tender, it was falling off the bone. The side dishes was fairly generous! No request was too big for the waitress staff either. The restaurant was playing some fab tunes in the background, not too low and not too loud and there was plenty of room between tables, no over crowding and it was nice to walk outside if you needed some fresh air or a cigarette. I cannot wait to go back and try the pork belly and have a dessert this time (if I am not too full!) Thanks again for making Fathers day a hit for my dad and my boyfriend. Laura”

“Just enjoyed a lovely lunch at Onyx. Fabulous food and excellent service. Highly recommend the scallop starter and the pork cheek pasta and mussels, they also have delicious side dishes particularly the mushrooms, zucchini and spinach. Great choice of food and drink and our waiter whose name I didn’t catch but think he said K or Kai couldn’t do enough for us. Friendly, courteous and polite, I have nothing negative to say. “Gorgeous, freshly made sushi. The sushi rice had a perfect consistency and the seafood toppings were quality. We also went for a tuna poke that was super fresh, varied and flavoursome. Good portion sizes and that saying "you pay for what you get" certainly rings true here. Top that all off with a very friendly (and competent) sushi chef. A most welcome addition to Hornchurch. “As you maybe aware I’m a big foodie who loves dining out in the finest of restaurants. But when it comes to choosing wine we either go for the countries that we know or we leave it to the recommendations of the sommeliers. So with this in mind we wanted to broaden our horizons let’s say by learning more about wine in general ie taste , smell , tannins , acidity etc. with the additional knowledge of knowing what wine wine is good value for money and which style of wine goes with which style of food. So we gave it some thought and approached our good friend and drinks expert Alison Taffs at the Hop Inn Hornchurch our local micro pub to see what she thought and because it was only going to be the two of us if it would be worth her while. But after a little chat we discussed a budget so it would make her time and effort worthwhile. We gave her a couple of weeks to put together a format and gather some wines to taste and talk about. This led us to sunday when our tasting would take place. We arrived at the Hop Inn and our table was laid out in the corner. You could see straight away that Alison had put a lot of effort into this to which we were very grateful. She had laid out tasting note sheets , an iPad screen displaying various information and a list of the six wines we would be tasting. She decided that we should keep the discussion to european wines and in particular Portugal , France , Austria & Germany. Her knowledge was incredible as she guided us through the different stages of tasting wine. This begins with appearance which will include the colour. This is followed by smell , condition , intensity and the character. Then it’s time to taste to find out if the wine is sweet or dry as well as how much acidity , length , body and tannins. To finish you would decide what type of food you would match the wine with. We followed this by talking about pricing and what wines from specific regions when you look at a wine list are good value for money. This information really was invaluable and will certainly help us in the future. We’d personally like to thank Alison for a fabulous wine tasting afternoon. To listen to her knowledge and passion really was a pleasure and we definitely got more out of this than we first thought. I would highly recommend if your interested in wine to arrange a session yourselves whether your a couple like us or a larger group you will certainly benefit from her vast experience in the industry. We’re certainly looking forward to booking another session with her soon”

“I tried the Fish & Chips for the first time at Poseidons and I was pleasantly surprised. 10/10. I called them to place an order for 1 Large Cod and Regular Chips, asking the proprietor can you cook me a fresh cod with my chips, and he said, no problem, there’ll be ready in 10 mins. Just long enough for me to walk to Poseidons from where I live. I enjoyed them very much and will be ordering the same again, when I don’t feel like cooking at home. Highly recommend, and the customer service was top notch, very welcoming and kind. :)”

“The Drill opened its doors again today and I just popped over for a couple of drinks and a meal, both of which were excellent! I can't wait to sample the whole menu in the future. The new and old staff were super friendly and the manager Wayne was very welcoming and was clearly running a well oiled machine. Their social distancing measures seemed to be working well and it felt like a safe environment to relax in. Being a pub garden fan though I was most impressed with their refurbished garden - outstanding! See you again soon!”

“I visited The Good Intent pub today for lunch with a friend, we was greeted at the bar by a very friendly young lady, who told us that we could take a seat where we wanted and to order at the bar. We grabbed some drinks while there and found a nice table at the top of the restaurant. We order our food and it arrived within 20 mins food was hot and tasted amazing. We have decided that we would 100% add this to our list of places to come in future. 5 stars from the both of us.”

“Down to earth pub, with busy bar due to its good value prices and excellent value meal deals, that fill you up! Yesterday was curry club, got naan, 2 poppadoms, chutney, curry and rice with a JD and coke for £8.10 my wife had scampi, chips and mushy peas with Bacardi and coke bill was under £16 as you can see enjoyed every bit. “Tried this Chinese after our regular was closed for the night. I think this will now become our regular Chinese. The food had loads of flavour, not greasy. Packaged nicely with clear lids to see the food, the sauce pots were in a tray so no risk of leaking in the delivery bag. The food was also nice and hot, and the chips were good and not rock hard like most are from chinese takeaways.”
