Spice of India
● ClosedFront Lane, Upminster RM14 1XJ, United Kingdom“I love love love this place, hands down my favourite Indian and it must be everyone else's too as it's always rammed in there so 100% book a table.if you want to give it a try. The service is brilliant, the staff are friendly, welcoming and effecient, and they remember you between visits which i really like. The food here is amazing and one way another I've ordered all their sides and a lot of their mains, I normally opt for lamb anything and its divine. I've never ordered wine here as they have a good variety of beer on tap and they're always super quick with drinks. We order popodoms to start and the sauces are well presented and generous and I love the hot lemon flannel at the end. Highly recommend this place!!”

The Tea Cosy
● Closed“Was looking for a local cafe for a vegetarian breakfast with good reviews, we were originally going to another cafe but luckily we decided to try this little gem! We were warmly greeted and seated quickly (given we are in the midst of COVID19). We were given paper menus and all the tables were socially distance well with a track and trace QR code on the door too. It was really well protected and safe for the patrons of the cafe. Our order was taken and we were served an amazing fresh breakfast with a tea each, for me it was a perfect portion (not too much and not too little) and filled me up. Refills were free which was great value given that they came free with our breakfast. The food is fresh and tasty and I highly recommend the vegetarian to fellow veggies or those wanting a leaner option. The hostesses were all friendly and lovely people, from a little chat when ordering to a joke when paying, it made this little cafe pop out and make it feel more like you were at a friends or family members kitchen for brekkie. I only have praise for the ladies (didn’t see any men but if there was them too). Cost was shockingly low and when we were presented with the bill I thought something was missed off but I was told nope that’s all it is, I will be going back for all the reasons listed above. Plus at this price it makes it hard to even make my own brekkie for less. Highly recommend this to all and remember to tip and support these business in these times, they are going above and beyond to keep us safe. Huge thanks to all of the hostesses (and hosts)!”

Highly recommend private hire for any type of celebration as lots of different options available. Food is fantastic and so much to choose from, drinks are great and reasonably priced. However, best thing has to be the staff who are so friendly and accommodating. Huge thank you to Chantel and for hosting a brilliant night…again!”

Ginger Lounge

My meal was the Bombay Sizzling Tava which is shown in the picture. Surprisingly it was not hot and spicy which is what I was expecting but very flavoursome and really quite mild. Ye Olde Plough House
● Closed“Great venue Have been here three times now. Two wedding that were somehow different to each other but both absolutely lovely. The third was a 21st birthday party. Staff are excellent and food great. Venue has always been beautifully decorated for the event. Comfy spots to get away from the music if needed. Clean toilets. Stayed in rooms once. Nice rooms but did need upgrading when we stayed 6 years ago, but think this may have now been addressed as they have had a refit, however, cannot confirm this.”

The Optimist Tavern
● Closed“The Optimist Tavern is set back from the roadside in a leafy enclave that you could easily believe is in deep countryside if you didn't know it is actually on the outskirts of London. Inside, the pub is spacious but has many cosy nooks and comfortable corners. The staff are welcoming and helpful, especially Dave, and the menu offers a wide selection of hearty pub favourites, such as fish and chips, and steak and Guinness pie, as well as curry and vegetarian and vegan options. Dishes are well presented and tasty. We particularly enjoyed the chicken, bacon and avocado salad, and we've loved our many visits.”

The Thatched House
● Closed“We visited the restaurant on Xmas Eve, great atmosphere. Our waitress all evening was Jo, she was really helpful when it came to knowing the menu, my husband had the lamb, which he loved, I had the sea bass and was looking forward to the flower pot afters, Jo even checked to make sure there were still some left. We didn’t just get left, but we were asked were our courses ok and whether we wanted any more drinks. A great time was had by all. Thank you”
