“Celebrated our work Christmas Party at The Duke of York. Such a wonderful place, very happy I selected this pub. Staff was amazing, so helpful and lovely, really made us feel welcomed and catered to our every need! We hired a space at the back, enough for 10-15 people which was beautifully decorated and easy access to the bar and toilets! The staff kept checking on us every so often making sure we were happy. They even played our music request - which just topped the night off!! Food was great, we ordered off the Christmas menu, 3 platters - which was really tasty! Plus we ordered from the main menu which was so good. Food was sent out quick. Food and drink prices were reasonable! Definitely recommend this pub! Plus easy to get too, 3min walk from St John’s Wood train station.”

“I had a birthday lunch for 14 people and could not recommend the Hillgate more. The staff were incredibly friendly and made everything very smooth and they were very personable too. The food was delicious, with eveyones drinks well topped up. The atmosphere of the pub is perfect - a throng of people and a gentle buzz but not too loud. Thank you for a wonderful birthday lunch. Couldn’t recommend more. Jack”

“Very friendly staff, great selection of beer, and the snack menu was ace. Decent prices considering where it is. Not too busy when I arrived 3pm ish, but was starting to fill up around half four. Recommend this place if you are in the area, not too far from Chalk Farm or Belsize Park for the tube, although technically Hampstead.”

“Loved our first visit here - the terrace is the perfect spot to soak up some delicious cask and keg beers while the pub itself is a stunning building with a beautiful parquet floor and old banking counter that has to be seen. Handily for us its on the way home from town so look forward to many visits here over the months ahead!”

“I visited The Bull for the first time today. The occasion was taking a relative out to celebrate her birthday. The staff were welcoming,helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and the environment pleasing and comfortable. I shall definitely be going back in the near future. Thank you.”

“I went here for a late lunch with a friend at the weekend and our experience was fantastic from start to finish. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. I absolutely loved the Easter themed dessert (filled with mango and passion fruit mousse and served with a hot caramel sauce!). It’s a shame it’s not a long-term option! On a sunny day it was impossible to get a seat on the terrace but we had no trouble booking a last-minute table in the restaurant.”

“Got a cappuccino for take away on a absolutely freezing old morning and it was really warming and tasty. Kept my hands warm too. Service was fast as they weren’t very busy as it was very early morning. Staff were smiling and friendly, nice and talkative as well which makes you feel a bit more comfortable Cappuccino tasted very nice and smooth. The standard Costa coffee taste that I’ve come to know and love. Will be returning again.”

“Cheerful barmaid happy to have a laugh. Guinness was good with 2 ale pumps. A couple of tvs (cricket and football when I was there). Lovely beer garden with a little bar and a pizza oven. Nice clean place with friendly locals.”

“Absolutely lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon in this beautifully refurbished pub, enjoyed a perfectly chilled rosé and the most delicious pork roast, not to mention the jam roly poly just like ‘my mum used to make’- delicious! Attention to detail is fabulous, even down to the cutlery and crockery. Great service, couldn’t fault a thing and would thoroughly recommend- it’s also very dog friendly and the music playlist comfortably in the background was pretty good too! Well done and thanks to the team.”

“I wrote this review back in August but for some reason I can’t see it on this page. The Rise is an excellent pub and was nothing short of amazing for my birthday. The pub was so catering to what I wanted from start to end. We met with the manager beforehand who carefully went through what he thought the space should look like. He helped us pre order food and catered to the many dietary preference and allergies. On the day, the space was beautiful and we had the staff catering to us non stop. Everyone was so polite and the food was delicious. They made my birthday after a year of isolating and restrictions so much fun! We were celebrating in the back of the pub and had full use of the outdoor terrace and the entire inside area. The pizzas we ordered were so delicious, cocktails were yum & the atmosphere was great. Thank you so so much for being so incredible and so kind! We can’t wait to be back for another celebration in the not so distant future.”

“Excellent local with a good beer selection at a reasonable price. San Miguel is currently £4.40 a pint at time of writing - Oct. 22. Food is great and they are dog friendly in part of the bar and all of the garden. I was served by Nicola.”

“The staff are amazing, we booked very last minute . The had clearly had a busy day so the menu ended up having a few things no longer available. They sat us down and let us know so we could decide if we still wanted to have a meal, which we did we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Our little girl enjoyed her food too and all the lovely smiles and waves she was getting from everyone too .”

“A nice branch with a nice and interesting interior design. The first thing I saw was a neat display of cakes and savouries. Friendly staff, constant smiles all around. ^_^ Today I treated myself to a Latte with Caramel syrup. Sweet and tasty. Feeling hungry I ordered a ham&cheese toastie. Heated, crunchy, and tasty. And then I came across something that caught my eye, it turned out to be Cheese scones so I thought I try one, warmed up and served with butter. It was delicious. The melting butter boosted the cheese flavour. I ate with glee. My visit was pleasant. Thank you Costa.”

“Great little Costa in the centre of Bexley village. It is open all hours, one of few places that are open before I go for my commute Customer service is excellent. Honestly the staff are absolutely amazing, really friendly and will go out of their way to open doors for people juggling lots of kids etc.”

“I left a 1* review last week but have amended this to 5* based on my experience. I had been too hasty with my previous review and had deleted it but think a positive review is fairer. The manager Usha has been super helpful in resolving an issue we had with a Xmas booking - they managed to find a reasonable solution despite the fact that there was poor communication on our end. Usha called me back and was more than open during our discussion and generally really helpful and friendly. She did take some time to respond as was respecting office hours and didn’t want to call me too late - much appreciated and something I had not initially considered.”
