“Mmmm shashlik! Tender, spicy but not hot spicy......make your mouth water spicy. Charcoal chicken wings. Not the skinny flappy bit but,the shoulder and bicep. A tiny sprinkle of fresh lemon juice drizzled into the munchable, tender chicken. The starter dip things.... FANTASTIC Turkish naan. Light and fluffy with a good outside crunch, dipped into fresh proper humus. A garlicy yoghurt dip thing. Grilled onion quarters in a pomegranate sauce. A fresh and tangy salad with tomatoes, cos lettuce, cucumber, onion. Often Turkish salads that I've had have just been sprinkled with vinegar which, can make them slightly bland. Not so Charcoal's salad dressing. Imagine a charcoaled meat selection served on a bed of rice with a chips border and a sort of thin, round flatbread covering to keep the aroma and heat contained. Lamb shish in very small,succulent cubes on wooden skewers. The charcoal chicken wings, shashlik, thin strips of doner.thick, tender lamb chunks. Add a glass of Turkish red wine (or three). Maybe some Turkish tea with something sweet for those of us who like the slightest perspiration invoked by overeating. Yes, they do takeaway. Yes they have all sorts of fizzy drinks. But, they are not your usual Turkish takeaway. This place is well worth a sit-down for an hour or so and serious, professional eating. Opposite Lidl so maybe, if you do some shopping in Lidl - you could park there. Personally, I think it's worth taking the Northern line and walking from Edgware statation. A couple of outside tables for those that need a quick cigarette or an afternoon cup of coffee and a baklava. I was introduced by a friend who is Turkish and himself a retired restaurateur. In the 20 plus years I have known him - he has always steered me to places that are good quality and not overpriced. This isn't a place with fancy carpets and bow tie waiters. It's like a mum n dad place who care and concentrate on flavour.”

“This is more like a smart cafe than a formal restaurant with a family friendly ambience. When we were here, there were plenty of people with children around (Saturday 530pm). We got a max platter, which was always going to be more food than we needed for two adults and two children but would be perfect for four adults. The meats were excellent and we went for rice instead of chips which was good as an extra. Definitely very good value for money and the quality of the food is as good as many of the more upmarket Turkish restaurants in nearby areas.”

We are always made to feel so welcome and it’s so lovely when staff remember who you are, as my Grandad is in a wheelchair and requires extra assistance. Little things like this really mean a lot. “We found ourselves in Edgeware an not sure where to go for a meal. So many restraunts which all look good! Then we found Izgara a Turkish restaurant! The place is just beautiful inside and the staff are so attentive. The food is beautifully prepared and is well presented Service was quick, and it's one of the best meals that we have had out this year! If we lived in London this would be our go to place! However next time we are in London we will definitely be back!”

“We had the most wonderful Friday Night Dinner for 14 delivered last week. Everything was carefully boxed and labelled and the food was delicious. Incredibly plentiful and lots left over for following day - and the freezer, and distribution to the grandchildren. Amazing value and Adam and Yass were so helpful and a pleasure to deal with. We had two fabulous waitresses too - Andrea and Laura - very efficient yet unobtrusive. Couldnt do enough to help on the evening. All in all a great success which we would not hesitate to repeat.”

“A dive into some Egyptian cuisine for lunch yesterday. The waitress was helpful to explain what Egyptian dishes they had although not all were listed on the menu. I ordered the Molokhia (green soup) - usually served with chicken & rice Koshary (mixing pasta, rice and brown lentils, topped with a zesty tomato sauce, garlic vinegar and garnished with chickpeas and crispy fried onions). Bamya (lamb & okra stew) They also had Kebda eskandarani but I didn’t have space on on this visit. All of them were fresh, the stew being especially flavoursome. She also made a really nice mango lassi. Will likely be back to try other stuff”

Struggled to work out what we wanted for dinner take out tonight as fridge I'd empty ahead for weekly supermarket delivery tomorrow and my partner said I would kebab style meal so I said mentioned a place in Edgware but I couldn't get the spelling right for the delivery app and remember you have recently refurbished and opened again so I said how about here and Wow, the chicken/lamb shish kebabs with rice and a little bit of salad was more than enough. Salad wasn't finished and unfortunately we can't touch our 2 pizza sized portions of bread. Definitely order again either take out or dine in. Delivery was on time too. Fab work, Mill Hill Kitchen.”

“Would highly recommend the place to anyone. Try their chicken cubes salad - a succulent healthy alternative to fish and chips and I've tried their awsome grilled sea bass too. It's a good mixture of Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisines. Definitely try boneless chicken, my friend's favourite. The food is exceptionally tasty at a good price. 5 stars!”

“We went in at off-peak hour and was seated quickly. Menu stated “to inform the staff if I have food allergy” which I did for gluten because I was concerned to be served pita or bread. However the staff members were confused when I mentioned gluten. Then I pointed on the menu the part which says to inform them of any food allergy, they thought it was a dish that I was pointing to. I didn’t want to pursue as I had company, so I chose conservatively, hummus with chicken sharwama and spicy salad. My company had the sharwama set. And we both had fresh carrot juice. Food was served quickly and tasted amazing, I enjoyed the meal thoroughly and will return. Carrot juice is real and fresh, absolutely great meal. If you have no food allergies then this is a great place to visit!”
