“We went to the bar to partake in the quiz. The quiz was really fun and there was a really nice buzzy atmosphere. We ordered some halloumi fries and a toasted cheese and ham sandwich and the sandwich was honestly the best I'd ever had! Staff are really friendly and the new plants and candles make it feel extra cozy! Perfect for an autumnal evening with friends. Highly recommended!”

“This is our local Wetherspoons and we love it! We usually order on the app and the drinks arrive quickly! The food is great, we usually have a burger or something from the grill. The desserts are good too, the apple crumble was delicious!”

“A friend and I called in for a beer while wondering around the area. Really friendly people, also the best pint of Guinness I’ve had for a very long time, poured just right. We’ll definitely call in again if we’re ever passing.”

“Nice pub for a meet up with mates if you're over 25. Nicely decorated and serves some nice booze. DJ of a weekend is a good way to end a nice afternoon then into the night. Barmaids need to be a little more attentive as few people were waiting to be served while they were grouped together chatting. They were lovely though. Toilets were clean which is always good to see anywhere. Overall a nice place to go.”

“Very clean and nice place to stay to spend the night while on a long layover just 5-6 minutes' drive from the airport. Despite short distance to airport, unfortunately not walkable due to location being near the intersection of some major roads that were not very pedestrian friendly. Staff are friendly and courteous. I had two meals here (dinner and breakfast) and the food was very good.”

“Excellent coffee shop in Black Notley. Opens mornings only so don't try and go after 12. Delicious home made cakes and a variety of coffees on offer. All are reasonably priced. Good ambience with relaxed seating options.”

“Seating ground level, upstairs, and outside - delicious food! Most of our group had the English Breakfast and it was some of the best we had in our 2 week trip here. The woman at the register also provided us with delicious pies and took a moment to talk to us. All in all an amazing experience!”

“We had our wedding at The Canonbury and it was the perfect location for our special day. Service was fantastic, food was outstanding, drinks were topped up all afternoon and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Our guests especially loved the beautiful gardens. I would highly recommend for anyone to host a special event at this classic and stylish London pub.”

“Hilarious. The staff are wearing what looks like security cameras. I was sat near a couple that were having a loud and drunken argument. An old man was just staring at me from his pint of I assume some guest ale, then averted his gaze when I stared back. Staff member who took my order was the newest, poor thing looked suitably overwhelmed. 10/10 would visit again..”

“The Watford and Surrounding area bereavement support group use this location for a meetup at 11.00 on the last Sunday of the month. We have found this to be the perfect place to have a coffee and a chat with others going through the same life-changing challenges we all face when losing a loved one. The staff here are very friendly and always make us feel welcome.”

The steak was perfect and so was the sweet potato fries also the double bacon burger too. Thank to the chefs for preparing our food in quick service time.”

“My first visit to this pub. A large family friendly pub which was very clean and well presented. The staff were lovely and knew how to pour both a good Guinness and ale = both of which were excellent. There is quite a large beer garden out the back. We didn't eat but what I saw made me think about it. Great value. Spot the interesting history note at the bar.”

“First visit since new management have taken over. Bar staff are a great laugh and very friendly. Beer is clean and average price for romford. The decor is great with traditional pub setup - plenty of tables and space for a good night to be had! Bouncers were decent enough and kept the clientel well behaved! Hope they get the live bands back soon, they made for a fantastic atmosphere.”
