I’ve been there for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner. All good. If going for dinner, order one of the specials, the chef has some great ideas, you can tell he/she enjoys getting creative with the specials. Service has always been good, they’re nice and friendly can’t complain, good food, good prices.”

Pullman Restaurant
● Open“INCREDIBLE!!!! Eating on one of two train cars originally from the Orient Express was an awesome package at Glenlo Abbey. Yes it's quite a bit more costly but overall a once in a lifetime experience. Our room (luckily and maybe purposely) looked out over the trains as we eagerly awaited eating there. We were 'boarded' at our reservation time by a man in full train attire and handed train tickets which just added to the experience. The initial ambiance was on point. Our waiter fit the part as well and was prompt to greet us. We also received a goat cheese filled mini waffle cone as a treat after ordering and tarts after dessert. Our deal included a three-course meal including bread. The bread was really delicious and more of a French bread type of crust yet soft inside. The appetizers we ordered were absolutely delicious as well. As our meals came out and we were greeted with a show of revealing the plates which added a little pizzazz. The entire meal is what you would expect from a five-star restaurant. The drinks we ordered were amazing too!!!! Sitting in our booths and learning that the likes of Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin were once guests on the train along with many other old time celebrities. These cars were also used to transport Winston Churchill to his final resting place. We were seated in the 'Leona' which is one of the oldest cars. Overall, this was an amazing experience. Highly recommend you upgrade to this package.”

● Open“We aren't talking about gourmet fancy dishes here but their noodles are spot on. The spice box (served in a pizza box) is a win win situation and I'd be surprised if you'd finish it in one sitting.”
-
Captain House Restaurant
● Open“One of the nicest restaurants I have ever eaten in. Staff very helpful esp in dealing with food allergies. House wine excellent. Portions very generous. Wide selection on menu. Excellent quality food. Furnishings rustic. Reminded me a lot of a typical traditional German eatery. Would highly recommend. Can't wait to go back. Well priced for such high quality food. However would need to book in advance as its a small restaurant and very popular with the locals.”

The Kings Mill Restaurant
● Open“Let me start by saying that I rarely take time to review restaurants. I have visited Ireland 4 times, have eaten at many fine restaurants (including those which are Michelin rated), but this is hand down the best dining I have experienced in all of Ireland. There is nothing about this place that isn't short of incredible! From the moment you drive up, you'll be amazed at the stunning view of the Mill and nearby river from the parking lot. The restaurant itself has retained all of its historic qualities, while being welcoming and romantic at the same time. As fantastic all of this is, it's secondary to the remarkable food and service. I am truly sad that I found this place on my last day in the area. I wish I had words to explain how good our meal was, but I do not. The freshness and quality are second to none and I can only assume this is due to sourcing local ingredients. Chef Marcel and crew are able to transform seemingly simple dishes to a level what I would consider to be fine dining. If you are anywhere near Kilkenny and don't take the time to visit Kells and The Kings Mill, you have truly missed out. I will always plan my trip around visiting this great establishment. From the waiter, to the manager, to the Chef, I cannot thank you enough. Dining at The Kings Mill has been the highlight of our trip. I wish you all the best and look forward to dining with you again!”
