"We have stayed there 2 times, in the lower suite.We love it there, so peaceful and relaxing. We enjoy being able to sit outside and look down at the river and enjoy a glass of wine or beer. Denise is very accommodating and the breakfast is definitely worth getting out of bed for. Will absolutely go back again."

"Hickory Ridge was EXACTLY what I was looking for. The building is located in the country, and is situated with an amazing view of the Mississippi River. You'll need to drive for meals you aren't bringing with you, as there is not much nearby. The walls are sturdy, and all the wood is gorgeous. Be prepared for rustic, country decor throughout the house. (Proprietor Denise seems to be a collector.) The bed was comfortable, and breakfast was delicious: hot eggs, French toast, sausage, and bacon. My husband said it was the best bacon he'd ever tasted. There is room to move about in the upstairs loft, and if you get the lower suite, you've got a lot of room. Denise allowed us to upgrade to the empty Upper Loft room, and it was just what we needed. A bit informal on the reservation system, but on the whole we had a great experience."
