The Commons consists of two buildings. Building 1 houses up to 187 students in single-gender suites, while Building 2 accommodates up to 351 students. Each floor features free laundry facilities, lounge areas, and snack rooms or kitchens. The fully furnished suites include twin beds with XL twin mattresses, desks, chairs, chests, and closets without doors for flexible storage.

Located at 255 Sunset Drive in Dahlonega, Georgia, North Georgia Suites is a university residence hall that accommodates 598 residents, including freshmen and upperclassmen. The coed suites offer single and double occupancy options, with most freshman hallways being single gender. The residence hall is conveniently located next to the Health and Natural Sciences building and the Walker Drive parking deck. Residential meal plans are required for all residents, and move-in for fall 2023 will be by appointment only on August 17, 18, and 19. Students are encouraged to bring items to make their room comfortable, but there are restrictions on certain items. The residence halls are equipped with computer access and two wireless networks. UNG Residence Halls do not provide satellite or cable TV access, but students can bring their own streaming devices. Visitation hours for guests vary depending on the residence hall, and all guests must be escorted by their host and check in at the front desk. Students living in certain halls are required to purchase a meal plan, while others have the option to opt out. Students living off-campus must meet certain criteria, such as living with parents or grandparents within 50 miles of campus, being 21 years or older, or having completed 2 years of active military service. Overall, North Georgia Suites provides a comfortable and convenient living environment for students at the university.
