Grant Park Community Garden - Grant St
Grant Park Community Garden on Grant St is a vibrant community space located at 970 Grant Street Southeast in Atlanta, Georgia. This garden, established in 2011 by a group of dedicated residents, offers both Household Plots and Plant-A-Row Plots where members come together to grow fresh produce for donation to local organizations. With 25 Household Plots and 15 Plant-A-Row Plots, the garden stewards have donated over 400 pounds of fruits and vegetables annually. Participants in the garden come from various gardening backgrounds and are committed to using only organic methods. Beyond the joy of harvesting their own crops, members also enjoy the sense of community and camaraderie that comes from working towards a shared goal. The garden is a project under the Grant Park Neighborhood Association and is one of two community gardens in the area.
Bear Creek Nature Center
Bear Creek Nature Center is a private, non-profit environmental education facility located at 6300 Cochran Mill Road in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. Our mission is to spread the joy of nature and the outdoor world by teaching people of all ages in our community about our environment. We offer a wide range of environmental and wildlife sciences, including zoology, botany, and ecology. Nestled in a rural, mixed hardwood forest just 20 minutes from the Hartsfield-Atlanta Airport, we are proud to be the only nature center in Georgia with a live native bat exhibit. Our resident animal ambassadors include exotic and non-releasable native reptiles, amphibians, and birds of prey. We also host three major annual events: Pollinator Day, Reptile Rally, and Bat Fest.
