Meadow Garden
Meadow Garden is a historic house museum located at 1320 Independence Drive in Augusta, Georgia. The institution is a popular tourist attraction that allows visitors to step into a piece of American history at the home of George Walton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The property, built in 1791, has been open to the public since 1901 and is one of the oldest house museums in the United States. Meadow Garden is a National Historic Landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can tour the historic house Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday tours are by appointment only, and groups can schedule a tour by calling 706-724-4174. The last tour each day begins no later than 3:15 p.m. Due to road work causing closures on 13th Street near Meadow Garden, visitors can approach the property from Walton Way and turn onto 13th Street to reach Meadow Garden.
