"Beautiful campsites - each site shaded and secluded from adjacent sites. Picnic table, electricity, water spout and grill at each site - NO fire rings. But you can have a small fire inside the grill. Water-view sites! Restrooms with lots of showers and toilets! Laundry. Camp-store. Kayak launch from campsite - no rinse station. The bugs are real here! Bring the good strong bug spray! No-see-ums are insane!!!"
"This is our second time Camping at Fort De Soto and we look forward to coming back again. We enjoyed riding our bikes all over the place, checking out the fort, the beaches, the campground. We spent a lot of time on the water, it's wonderful for boating. We especially enjoyed going out onto north beach and looking for sand dollars. There were lots of shells to be found as well as sharks teeth. The campground itself is quite large and the sites are nicely spaced out and beautiful with trees all around. If you bring a boat, you can choose a site that where it can be kept on the water, which is really nice. The bathhouses and laundry facilities were all in good condition, clean and well kept. The camp store is really small, but I bet they have something if you need it. :)"
"We stayed on a waterside site in the no-pet section. We were able to anchor our small boat right off the campsite. The site was very large. There was electricity and water connections at the site. The bathhouse was right across from our site. The showers were clean and had excellent water pressure. The drainage for the showers spilled out onto the bathroom floor and the shower head was a bit leaky, but otherwise this place was impressive. The site was less than $40 per night. We had great cell reception. We were 10 minutes by boat from Shell Island Preserve that had plenty of beautiful beach to walk and swim. Even though this is Florida (where you expect a lot of bugs) we had a totally bug-free experience. We will absolutely come back!!!"
"This is the most beautiful campground I’ve ever stayed at. I truly felt like I was staying on some remote tropical island. There are palm trees and lush greenery everywhere. Our site was mostly private and had a decent amount of shade. I booked site 29 which I would book again. However I just booked a waterfront site and am excited to try that out. The bathrooms are large and there are fans on during the day that help keep it cool. My only complaint is the shower situation. The stalls have flimsy curtains that don’t stay shut well, and you have to leave your stuff either on the hook or the bench outside of the shower stall. I made it work but it’s tricky. Just not my favorite thing. But honestly I’ll get over it because of how amazing the campground is. They also have a camp store which has almost everything you can think of which is convenient. I will also point out that there were a few raccoons that come out at night. I haven’t been around a lot of raccoons before so that’s a little sketchy. They definitely surprised me a few times. It seems most of the people were all away to bed by 10pm. We did the same mostly to avoid the raccoons lol. My husband and I decided we are going to come back again and again."
