"You will be hard pressed to find a worse doctor’s office. Aside from the quality of medical care you will receive, or lack thereof, the office appearance is old, musty, and is in disrepair. Be prepared to wait hours before you see a doctor. My 3-year old has life threatening food allergies and the doctor at this location, Dr. Sharlene Llanes, could care less. In our last three appoints the doctor left the room and never returned, a nurse performed an allergy scratch test on our son and told us Dr. Llanes would come in to go over the results with us. We waited and waited and nothing. Eventually the nurse returned and told us the doctor would not see us, but instead we had to schedule two additional appointments(an environmental allergy test and an office visit with the doctor), finally for our last appointment we waited almost an hour in the waiting room then another hour in the examination room. There were three new test results that we were waiting to review with the doctor(allergy scratch test, environmental allergy test, and blood work). The doctor came in the exam room(almost two hours after the appointment time), spoke for a minute about the environmental allergy test results then there was a knock at the door. The doctor opened the door and whispered something with a staff member, then turned to us and told us she had a new patient in another exam room and that it was almost 12 O’clock and she had to go. We explained that our son was an existing patient with three new test results and we had a number of questions. Dr. Llanes blurted something out about an almond allergy before she slipped past the half open door and disappeared down the hall. She never returned. My wife and I were shocked, we had lists of questions. As we left the office, the receptionist asked us if we wanted to schedule a 4 month check up and we informed her that we will not be returning. Dr. Llanes didn’t even have the decency to go over the life threatening allergies with us. To her the reimbursement for a new patient examination was much more important than our 3-year old’s life threatening food allergies. This doctor knows little about her patient’s and sticks to a routine script, one in which she calls the kids “champ” or “sweetie” or “babe,” instead of their names. If you push her off the generalized script and ask detailed questions about your child’s unique condition she is flustered and has no answers. In all likelihood it’s because she is so over-booked and seeing such a volume of patients on a single day. We understand and accept that there is going to be some waiting at doctor appointments. At some point though, that waiting crosses a threshold of selfishness and places manifest weight on profits over patients. To make matters worse, when a doctor, who routinely makes you wait for hours, steadfastly refuses to answer questions or provide you with a modicum of courtesy as it relates to a 3- year old's life threatening allergies, a line has been irretrievably crossed and an oath has been intentionally ignored. This office abides by the “for-profit oath” over the Hippocratic oath. We cannot express our dissatisfaction in bold enough words. The wait times are unreasonably long, but the combination of those unreasonably long wait times with a doctor that cannot flee from the examination room fast enough embody malpractice and malfeasance. It also screams loud and clear that although their time matters, patients' and their families' time do not matter. We filed a complaint with the owner of this office, the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, the American Board of Pediatrics, and filed a formal complaint with the Florida Department of Health-Medical Quality Assurance division. We also contacted our health insurer and filed a grievance. We are human beings, the parents of a 3-year old who has a number of life threatening allergies. This doctor’s office treated us as if we were nothing more than a CPT code and a fee schedule reimbursement rate. They are no more a doctor than they are a profit monger."
