"My mom moved into these apartments in November of 2020 when they had just recently opened. My mom passed away in her apartment on July 21st 2021 however she was not discovered to be deceased until August 1st 2021. The staff at Banyan, was absolutely disgusting. They knew who I was, they knew my contact info and wouldn’t even allow me into my moms apartment to obtain her cats. Her cats had been in the apartment the whole week and a half that she was deceased, as her body was decomposing. They made me go through probate and claimed that they were feeding the cats during that time. When I was finally able to enter her apartment, there were dead flies all over the place, and the apartment smelled of death. Apparently while the staff was supposedly feeding the cats nobody realized my mom passed away in her bed, and her mattress and box spring were still in the apartment. There was blood, maggots and dead flies all in her room. I was the one that had to notify them that the mattress needed to be removed immediately by biohazard because clearly prior to that it wasn’t a concern of theirs. They also allowed the electric to remain on while the electric company continued to bill my deceased mother. I had to fight more than once with the electric company meanwhile the apartment staff was using my moms lights and AC running up a bill that she physically couldn’t pay. If you don’t have family support, do not move in here. The staff is condescending and act as if they’re too good to listen to any concerns of the residents. This was the absolute worst experience losing my mom in this apartment. They should have realized before being told that the mattress and box spring needed to be removed. They claimed that their biohazard company was behind due to Covid, meanwhile two weeks passed after my moms death and nothing was removed. Ironically as soon as I notified them that it needed to be removed, I was notified two days later by my attorney that they were requesting my permission to remove it. They need to have much better policies and procedures in place if they’re going to run a senior complex. Yes, my mom was the first death in the complex but they should have handled this way better. I’m beyond disgusted by how they handled this matter and I’m forever traumatized by seeing my moms bed."
