Timberline Glamping at Hillsborough River

"This staycation in Tampa was definitely worth it! We have been wanting to go camping for a while, but didn’t want to buy a tent, camping gear, etc. so this was perfect! It was so easy- no set up, just show up! The bell tent we stayed in was very clean and the heat option was perfect because we somehow stayed on a (very rare in FL) COLD night. The bathroom was also very close. We were able to do some hiking the next morning, but we wish we would’ve stayed more than 1 night! P.S. I definitely recommend buying the s’mores add on! The chocolate and marshmallows were much better quality than I was expecting!! Also you can turn the cute string lights outside off at night too so it’s a bit darker."

"My husband and I had such a great time at Timberline Glamping. We stayed on a Friday night with our 2 dogs, and everything was so perfect. The instructions you get prior to check-in make everything very seamless. All campsites were occupied on our stay and everyone seemed to really enjoy the space, and other guests were so friendly. We loved having a fire, and sat outside for hours just enjoying the space and company. Restrooms are very close and clean, everyone was respectful of space, and sound, etc. The only bummer for us was that it rained early the next day so we didn't get to hike much, but we'll come back during normal park hours! Definitely recommend this as a staycation in Tampa!"

"Wow! Such a fun and relaxing time!! The tents are amazing and the surrounding grounds are exceptionally nice. Everything you need to make it a great coming experience with your loved ones. It’s definitely glamorous camping with the comfy beds and heat/a/unit and mini refrigerator. Your site has your own “side gravel yard” with fire pit, picnic table and grill- water hose too!! Rent the fold up rocking chairs for around the fire or bring your own. We were lucky to have the in our backyard at Johnathan state park!!! Great way to escape the world for a night or two. Must do!!!"

"We love tent camping and love going to Hillsborough River. This year we decided to try something new and book a glamping tent for a special treat. The tents look exactly as they do on the website- the interiors are well decorated and adorable. The lights strung out front are super cute and offer good light. Not having to set up camp, having a fridge, and the AC were the big benefits of glamping for us. The AC offered some nice “white noise” to drown out an extra rowdy group down the loop. The bed was super comfy and we slept like babies. Hillsborough River is a wonderful park and has some very beautiful hikes, and coming back to rest in our tent made the experience even better. A couple things that it seems some other reviewers were unaware of- the pool at the campground has been closed for years. It is posted on the state park website. The bathrooms are stocked and maintained by volunteers, not by Timberline, so like most state park bathrooms, they are serviceable but not fancy. I’ve camped on multiple loops here, and the bathrooms on the loop with the glamping tents is one of the older/most in need of updating in the park. Timberline was quick to respond to any questions I had and I would definitely recommend it if you wanted a special experience."
