“Wow what a wonderful place to stay. You could not get a better location. 10 miles from Edinburgh but in the heart of the Pentland Hills on a working sheep farm. Having driven off the main road for a mile up the farm track into a hidden valley it feels that you have escaped the world. The cottage is lovely and warm and cosey and so homely. Susan and Ali are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We are now working out when we ca get back for our next visit. Couldn't recommend highly enough”

“Sanitary, plenty of room for the dogs in their kennel, Caroline takes amazing care of all the animals, she obviously loves all the animals and she cares for them as if they were her own! A+++ would 100% recommend!”

“We have used Mr T’s cattery a few times over the last year for our indoor-cat, Jester. He is always well looked after and we get regular updates about him on Facebook. Jennie and Greg (and their team of assistants) are amazing hosts and always make us feel just as welcome as their cat guests when we drop him off. The care is friendly, very attentive and always professional. We wouldn’t use anywhere else and it’s great to see the place continue to grow.”

“Sharon is very reliable and has never let us down. She always sends us great photos of our cat Teazel during her visits. I know neighbours also speak highly of her services. Its always a worry choosing a new cat-sitter for your wee beloved cat but we are so pleased and feel lucky to have Sharon’s services. Would definitely recommend.”

“Fantastic experience all around. Warm greeting at the door, the food is exquisite and beautiful presented, attentive and knowledgeable wait staff. We were given a tour and told the history of the boat after our dinner by the gentleman at reception, the rooms look amazing. Will definitely be booking again. The engine room is not to be missed on the bottom deck.”

“One of the best hotels I've ever been to, by far. The boat is beautifully designed with incredible attention to detail. It's an independent hotel, and small enough that the hotel feels personal and cosy. The rooms are spacious, beautiful, and incredibly comfy. The bar is brilliant with good views over Leith and very good cocktails. All the staff were warm and friendly. There isn't a restaurant on the boat, but there is a wide range of good restaurants within 1 min walk. I feel I should say a negative to balance this review, but I genuinely can't think of any worth mentioning. The Ocean Mist far exceeded all my expectations!!”

“Just a lovely place and a lovely welcome! We got lucky staying here ! The attention to detail and generous hospitality is second to none. Choice of jams / spreads (too many to count), choice of cereals, cheese, yoghurts etc. Choice of different teas, coffees etc. In the room - generous amounts of coffee, biscuits, choice of drinks. Very welcoming for dogs - I have my two Cairn Terriers with me. A large safe walking area where I was able to go off lead. There is a large and well stocked trust bar where you help yourself and pay for what you use. A selection of malts etc. I cannot empathise enough how exceptionally generous the hosts are in this guest house. It is also in a very good location to access with loads of off street parking. If anyone needs any tips on how to run a B and B take a visit here and see how it’s done! We are in the area to attend the Cairn Terrier Championships.”

“The pens are spotless and have a window view. Both my cats appeared to gave a lovely time. Staff are very nice and friendly and had my cats personality s worked out pretty quickly. Haven't needed to use Catseye for a few year but wouldn't hesitate to use again.”

“Excellent dog boarding facilities. Shona and Jim are fabulous with the dogs, nothing is too much trouble. Our dog always comes back clean and fresh smelling which isnt always the case with some kennels. Highly recommended.”

“OMG! What a surprise! FANTASTIC!!! Competes with any 5* World Hotel! Spacious, well equipped rooms where everything works! Beautifully laid out with plenty of condiments and essentials. The bedding is to die for! Quality at its best! Must've cost a fortune? Yes, by far the best "b&b" I've ever stayed in and you won't be disappointed!”

“We stayed for 6 days, and were very sad to move on with the rest of our holiday. Hosts were both welcoming and friendly. Accomodations were very clean, comfortable and modern, and worth twice the price. Little touches like quality toiletries, power strips, water, (the rarely seen washcloths in the UK!) were quite nice. The breakfast options accommodated multiple allergies/dietary requirements. Extremely convenient to multiple forms of transit into Edinburgh and back, and provided some respite from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh during festival season. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pitreavie to other travellers.”

“A lovely b&b at a great location - near portobello beach and in front of a bus stop downtown. The hostess is nothing short of amazing: when I told her I busted my toe she quickly procured a walking stick for me, and was full of useful travel advice and interesting stories. The rooms were cozy and very clean.”

“We have been staying at this guest house for many years and is absolutely superb. Hosts are a really lovely couple and are happy to help, assist and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Rooms are very clean, comfortable. Quality of breakfast is excellent and there are plenty of options for all tastes. Location is superb, ideal for catching local buses that take you into Edinburgh centre, Portobello beach front is literally a 2 minute walk from the establishment and we love the relaxing, family atmosphere of the area. Highly recommended.”

“For the people who want to get closer to the famous Highland cows, this olace was much better than I expected. It was a short ride from city center, and after 20 minutes walk, we were able to encounter a large group, and be super close to them. Maybe we were lucky but we didn't expect to see so many and even be able to get that close. Bonus is that you can also get a full view from Edinburgh skyline from the top if the hill”

“We stayed in the pavillion suites for 3 nights last week. I would firstly like to say: the service we received from every single person who worked here was impeccable. Everyone had a smile and a kind word to say no matter what we needed. The suite we stayed in was MUCH bigger than anticipated and the food was lovely. Comforting and very well cooked. Everyone knew your name on arrival to any of the venues and little touches like this really added to our stay. I would also like to say a massive thank you to the two lovely servers who brought our dinner to us in the rain on our last night! You really made us comfortable that night and it is appreciated. The clubhouse staff were fantastic. Very kind and obviously happy to help. Every single person I came in to contact with in the spa was an absolute joy. Lastly, the staff in the mansion house were kind, friendly and accommodating. I want to add that this is a luxury experience. But compared to others, this was head and shoulders above the rest. On service alone. Thank you all for facilitating a beautiful and relaxing break for my mother and I. We will definitely we returning.”

“We booked just for one night before going to the airport after spending 10 days in Scotland and it was so beautiful there. We had a warm welcome, everything was so organized, cosy, with much love for little details. The fridge was stocked with a perfect breakfast, fresh juices, milk, lots of choices for tea and coffee. It was quiet and we could see the sheep's and deer from the window. Will definitely be back one day. Highly recommended. Thank you”

“We have used tower cattery before with our previous cat , and knew it now had new owners, I wouldn’t take my cat anywhere else! For Our new baby boy this was the first time in kennels for him ! Just in for the weekend but was very happy with everything! He was very well looked after.”

“We have used Meadowhill a few times now for our little lad. Never any concerns with how he is being looked after, staff are all lovely and helpful. The facilities are a good size per pen and so clean and fresh. We will continue to use them in the future for Coisty.”

“Our puppy has stayed with K9 friends a couple of times now while we were away for the weekend. Jacqui was amazing with him and sent us lots of videos and pictures of his stay while he was there. He was getting lots of love and attention and we knew he was in great care. Jacqui adores dogs and it’s very easy to see that. Excellent home boarding with a beautiful garden for them to run around.”

“Amazing place my dog Mia always looks tired and down when picking up from kennels but this time tail was wagging big smiles and relaxed. A big thank you to all the staff and especially the chap sorry can't remember name who spent so much time in the kennel looking after and sitting on the floor with Mia cuddling and making sure Mia was ok. “My two cats have just stayed at Adam’s Purrfect Cattery and they have come home very chilled and happy. The cattery is beautiful and the new owners are friendly and very experienced with nothing too much trouble. This is truly a ‘Purrfect’ 5 star cat hotel !!!”

“It was our first time putting Mylo in a Cattery and we were abit worried to leave him. My friend recommended Ali Cats to us. We went to have a look round prior to Mylo going in, the place was spotless and all the cats were happy. You can clearly see she loves cats and loves to take care of them. I will definitely be using her again next year and will be recommending her to my friends and family. If you are in doubt please just go have a look and it will put all your worries to rest.
