"People mention the long waits to see Dr. Schuchmann. But remember, the very best rides at DisneyWorld have the longest wait times because everyone wants to go on the best rides. Dr. Schuchmann saved my lower left leg, for sure, and probably my life, because he is one of the best surgeons in Knoxville. I had Flesh Eating disease, which travels VERY fast through the body, and I was hours away from losing my leg. Thanks to this brilliant surgeon, I’m alive today and my leg is completely healed. I thank God he was available the day I checked into the hospital. Gruff ol’ guy…but a BRILLIANT surgeon!"
"I highly recommend Dr. Schuchmann he is a great doctor. He is a surgeon, but also will treat burn victims. My daughter was in a terrible motorcycle accident who had burns on her and he took the best care of her I could have ever asked for."
"I’m not going to lie these bad reviews really had me so nervous. I was referred to him due to an umbilical hernia. The wait time was extreme, like over an hour extreme but maybe it was just a busy morning. But the surgeon made up for the long wait. He explained everything and actually listened to what I had to say. He went into full detail about the surgery and healing process. He didn’t rush through to move on to the next patient. I felt heard and validated. And my three year old has sensory processing disorder and was talking and messing nonstop. So he took the time to blow up a glove for him to keep him entertained while we talked. That to me speaks volumes to me about his character. He didn’t make it seem like my son was an inconvenience. I will also add I had the surgery with him at the end of last week and he was great! The only thing I will say is if you have questions it’s hard getting in touch with Becky who does the scheduling I tried calling her 3 times the day before the surgery and never got a call back. Aside from that Dr. Schuchmann is hands down the best surgeon, and I would rate his bedside manners 5 stars. I had zero issues with him."
"Several years ago, another surgeon would not see me for a week when my gall bladder was going bad. I could not even eat a cracker. However, I knew Dr. Schuchmann because he operated on my husband (and did wound care for him) several times. They got me right into the office the next day. He scheduled surgery for the next Monday. He told me that if my gall bladder went bad, to show up to the emergency room at Fort Sanders. Friday night it went bad. By Saturday night, he was operating on me. I was so thankful because I was so miserable. He showed compassion for me. His follow up care was wonderful. I would recommend him to anyone who needs surgery. He really knows his stuff."
