"A fenced-in playground with modern bathrooms and a path to a sandy Lake Michigan beach. What's not to like? Stop at Bortells fresh fish market, which is just a skip up the road, and bring the yummy meal back and eat at the park. There are plenty of tables and benches. ( We had whitefish, catfish, and cod, and it was all a treat) Take the path down behind the playground, and the beach is about 25 yards away. The beach is 95% sand with just enough pebbles to keep a rock hound interested. Great place to watch a sunset. Hikers: Consider walking south along the beach about 1 mile to the mouth of the creek that empties Bass Lake. A beautiful and very " off the beaten path" area to wade through the shallow river mouth and relax on the beach. ( Mack Rd)"
"Great park for the kids, right across the street from the fish fry place that is awesome, beach is a bit rocky for rock hounds but it's one of the few in the area so you may have to dig or hope the tide is out. Beautiful views, love Ludington Lakeshore area"
"Great little beach with plenty of picnic tables and a playground in the park area. Great place for rock hunting. Water is pretty cold, even in late July."
"Very beautiful view with a nice sitting area, perfect for a picnic! Also has beach access and a park for the kids to play on."
"Lovely park with lots of activity options. For the kids, there is a pirate ship shaped play structure, S.S.Summit and with other playground things around it including swings. There is a basketball hoop and a tennis court closer to the entrance and a ball diamond next to the playground. As you get closer to the beach, there are lots of picnic tables. The beach is pretty neat. It's large enough and clean. There is a little creek flowing into Lake Michigan nearby. The kids who were there when I visited blocked the water and made a little pool for themselves. I also saw people hunting rocks. When I visited the enclosed pavilion was rented for a wedding and they had people using that building. I don't think that's usually open. The only thing that's tricky about this park is the accessibility of beach. There's sand/wood/root stairs going down to the beach and they're pretty uneven. I don't have any accessibility issues myself but it looked dangerous. In fact, when I was about to go back to my car, two old ladies were coming downstairs and one of them fell down. Thank goodness she didn't fall badly and was OK. Edit: Forgot to mention the pavilion."
